iPad Pro & Apple Pencil

2018-04-17 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hi Listerrs,

Ok so a craziesh question for those who like being crazy.

Has anyone on the list got or know of a VO user with an iPad pro that also uses
an apple pencil?

I've tried using the pencil previously and thought it was a joke being blind
and trying to do precission detail work on an iPad with the pencil,
But now that I own and want to do more with my iPad pro I'm starting to wonder
if the pencil might be of use for somethings such as signing of documents via
word or pages / pdf files etc,
Or handwriting for taking notes
And just because I can trying to draw / sketch things if tring to demonstrate
or for reports etc.

I'm just wondering how if anyone else has tried, how did they get on?

Thanks for any info folks can provide.

iTunes and a podcast

2018-04-17 Thread Agent086b
Hi all,
I have re-built my iTunes database. I now have all my music back as it should
be. I have one problem with a podcast. The podcast is listed when I arrow
through my podcasts. It says that the podcast is not subscribed. I can’t
re-subscribe the podcast and I can’t delete it so I can download it again.
Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks for any help.
Max.

RE: Performing hardware test on my mac mini

Hi,

The key that they are referring to is the actual letter "d" key.  You hold down
the "d" key on startup and the Mac is put into Diagnostic mode.  All well and
good, but Diagnostic mode is not accessible with VO, so, you're out of luck
with this option.  If you are attempting to see if a fan is working, I suggest
Google searching something like SMC Fan Kit which allows for monitoring and
modifying internal fan speeds.  You do need to be careful with this app as it
is only partially accessible and you do not wish to mess with too many of the
default fan speeds unless you know what you're actually manipulating and the
consequences of modifying it.

Hi,

When browsing through the Mail messages, the messages will appear with their
relative dates for expediency purposes. If you open the message and interact
with the Message Header, you will find the more detailed date. Similarly, if
you print out the messages, the absolute date should appear instead of the
relative one.

How to re-arrange my mail boxes

2018-04-17 Thread Paul Hopewell
Hello,
I am using Apple mail on the latest High Sierra 10.13.4. My mail boxes have
become disorganised with some mail boxes wrongly subordinate to others. All are
local to my iMac.
I have tried to correct this using the VoiceOver drag and drop commands but
they do not work. I have also tried using the mouse down and mouse up commands
but this has only made matters worse!
Is there a VoiceOver friendly way to move mail boxes into a desired structure?
Many thanks…

Re: Sending iCloud links in email

2018-04-17 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

I'm not sure if I totally understand what you're trying to do. If you're just
wanting to share a specific file that you have in iCloud, I'd suggest that you
do this either from the file itself, or from the Finder while on your Mac. The
iCloud interface is not easy to navigate with VO. If your Gmail is your Apple
ID, then you should have no issues.

The only way I know of for making FaceTime or FaceTime audio calls is to make

contacts, making a call is as straightforward as telling Siri, for example:
„Make a FaceTime audio call to Mike Busboom.“

Once in a FaceTime conversation, I do not think that it is possible to send the
tones representing the numbers to your FaceTime partner. This approach works
on the Mac, as well as on the iPhone. Although I do not own an iPad, it would
probably work their, too.

I hope this helps.

Re: reacting to messages in messages app for Mac

2018-04-17 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

My understanding is that the reactions are available in MacOS, just not
particularly easy to get at from a a VO prospective. I was able to locate a
"Tap Back" option, but not to actually get the Reaction emojis and choose from
them.

Check out this for more detailed info:

Re: Further to earlier mail re playing audio content on my Mac

2018-04-17 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

Steve is spot on. This message is not necessarily saying that you are not
connected to the Internet, it is simply telling you that your login credentials
for iCloud are not valid at the moment. It is possible that the problem has
happened because you actually are not connected to the Internet, which would
mean that all you need to do is press VO-m-m to access the Extras menu,
VO-right to the WiFi menu, VO-space on it to open the menu, then VO-down to
your WiFi network, and finally press VO-space or return to connect to that WiFi
network. If you've never been connected to the network in the past, then
you'll be asked for the password if one was set. Enter the password and press
return. You are now connected to the Internet. You would then be able to
access FaceTime and such.

If the connection to WiFi was already established, but this error message
appeared anyway, then you'd need to enter the password in System Preferences to
have it not continue bothering you. This message was fairly common in El
Capitan, especially when you didn't use your computer in a while. There should
be a button on this error message that will take you directly to the proper
pane of System Preferences, which is the Internet Accounts pane. If it does
not straight away ask you for your iCloud password, then you may need to press
the Sign Out button then the Sign In button. I would suggest that this iCloud
is likely your Apple ID, so you will need to enter the username and password
for your Apple ID to allow the MacOS to access iCloud services. As a matter of
interest, although I don't necessarily recommend it, you could press the
"Later" button in this error dialog and go on your merry way. That is, you don
not need to be signed into these services in order to access FaceTime or
iMessages. You can simply open those apps specifically, enter your Apple ID
and password and they are ready to use.

HTH.

Re: How do I enter numbers on face time audio?

2018-04-17 Thread Michael Busboom
Hi.

I am not sure that I understand the nature of your question, so the suggestion
I am about to make might not even apply.

The only way I know of for making FaceTime or FaceTime audio calls is to make
sure that the person whom I wish to call is in my contacts. Once in my
contacts, making a call is as straightforward as telling Siri, for example:
„Make a FaceTime audio call to Mike Busboom.“

Once in a FaceTime conversation, I do not think that it is possible to send the
tones representing the numbers to your FaceTime partner. This approach works
on the Mac, as well as on the iPhone. Although I do not own an iPad, it would
probably work their, too.

I hope this helps.

Best regards,

Mike

Hi Maria,

It is an account that was created for me by our company administrator, so I
don't have a phone number associated with it, which you need to reset your
password in Google.. It's looking like my best bet may be to have him send me
a reset password link.

This whole password thing has gotten so crazy. Necessary, but still crazy. I
do think I'll check out One Password

Re: icloud Mail

2018-04-17 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Hi Maria,

the only thing I can think about is that when I was setting up Thunderbird
email on Windows 10, I had to generate app specific password in my icloud
account in my account section of icloud. Remember to keep a copy of it. I’m
not sure if it’s going to answer your question.

Good luck

Andrew

Re: Did iOS 11.3 kill auto-fill?

2018-04-17 Thread Ian Harrison
Hi all, this is what I now have to do.

I have to remember at least the first character of my user name and type it in.
Then just before predictions on the keyboard a list of options comes up if you
use the same user name for more than one web site. If you tap on the correct
one, the rest of the name and password is filled in. I then click on go or
login. I have no need to use figerprint reader.

Cheers
Ian

Donna most likely not but why not just do a forgot password to reset it?

Subject: Can someone help with getting info on a Gmail account?

Hi all,

I'm having an issue with my gmail password, and need to know how many
characters it has. In all my other email accounts, I can see the number of
characters when I click Details in the Internet Accounts pane. But when I
click on my Gmail account, it does not show me the number of characters in my
password. Does anyone know if there's a way I can see this information?
TIA,
Donna
