Re: Mojave and iTunes Library

2018-10-13 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
ET,

Normally, when choosing an iTunes library from the Option key, I suggest you
pick the iTunes parent folder,, not the iTunes Media folder. Since the parent
folder contains the ITL and other database files, the proper libraries are
normally chosen. It looks like what you did worked anyway, so good work.

Re: issue with Mojave

2018-10-13 Thread Erik Heil
Hello there,
Well, this issue normally can be addressed if you simply restart voiceover. I
have experienced this with a new operating system. Not sure if this is related
to what you are having, but when I did restart voiceover, it again did resume
normal typing echo within the text edit field.

Fall Detection is off by default unless you are 65 years or older. I would
encourage turning on Fall Detection. Fall Detection is very good at Detecting

Fall detection

2018-10-13 Thread 'Kawal Gucukoglu' via MacVisionaries
Hello.

On Monday, I am getting a new Apple Watch as I sold the last. What I would like
to know is, can one turn off the fall detection? I’m not sure if I would want
that on, because I don’t really want to call the emergency services
automatically if it didn’t give you any option not to do so, if I fell over!
Has anyone turned it off on their watches yet or are people preferring to
keep it on?

Thank you.

Kawal.

Re: issue with Mojave

2018-10-13 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

When you hear announcements like "Security Agent has no windows", or similarly
with some other agent, this is an invisible layer that sighted users would
never notice, but because we want VO to notice just about everything, those
agents often take over VO focus. Normally, cmd-tab, a physical click of the
mouse or trackpad button, or in some cases, the virtual click with
VO-shift-space will bring focus back to the Finder. After focus is on the
Finder, you should be able to use the Application Chooser, or Window Chooser to
locate the necessary entry area. Note that the Security agent is a call to a
process, thus the entry area is not a window that belongs to the Security
Agent, so doing the Window Chooser while VO focus is within the security Agent
will not be successful.

Hope this makes sense.

There are a number of situations where System dialogs are present, but not

Re: Mojave and iTunes Library

2018-10-13 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

Are you using Apple Music or iTunes Match? Just checking to make sure that
your music is stored locally instead of being Cloud based. If you connect to a
computer where the music is primarily streamed instead of being stored locally,
that Library may show as having no content.

Re: Extracting wifi info from imac to save for record is this possible?

2018-10-13 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

There's no real need to do anything like that. It is totally possible to share
that WiFi password with any other Apple device. Just make sure that they are
close to each other, and that you're either using the same Apple ID, or have
the other person in your contacts, and the WiFi password can be instantly
shared with the other device without having to share the actual alphanumeric
string. Alternatively, this information is stored in your Keychain, and can be
accessed with a bit of work.

Re: issue with Mojave

2018-10-13 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

On my MBP with TouchBar, the Touch ID or password request does appear normally
without extra interventions. I recommend you use the method suggested by
Oriol, whereby you use the Application Chooser, VO-f1-f1. An item named System
Dialogs should be there, select it then go right and down to the appropriate
window. You should easily be able to enter your password in this situation.
There are a number of situations where System dialogs are present, but not
readily noticeable to us, but sighted users see them plainly in the way of
whatever we are focused on as VO users.

Hello Mike,

I was referring to the official, Third-party, Twitter app which may be
downloaded from the app store. Just search for Twitter and you will discover
it as it is made by Twitter Inc, or something official-sounding like that.

Hello Mark,

In your original message in this thread, you wrote:

"So, if you have not yet done so, learn how to use the fully VoiceOver
accessible Twitter for iOS app, in order to harness the power of Twitter …“

Are you saying that the Twitter app in iOS12 is fully accessible when using
VoiceOver, or is there a specific Twitter app that is fully accessible with
VoiceOver? Does one need to download the app to which you are referring, or is
it part of iOS12 and if so, what is it called? I am anxious to start using
Twitter for business reasons.

On the humorous side of things, I am glad that you are able to brew excellent
coffee at home. I live in Vienna, Austria, a city that has tons of good
coffee, but I will soon be visiting the States, so I may want to pick up the
model you suggested and use it whenever I am over there.

Have a great weekend and thanks for a great posting!

As to Dropbox, if the app is already installed and you are prompted to sign

are typing in. Enter your user ID then move VO and back so it will read it to
you. I have made Dropbox very aware of this but they need to hear from others

Re: issue with Mojave

2018-10-13 Thread 'E.T.' via MacVisionaries

If you can see a little, increase the mouse pointer size.

High Sierra has the same issue and I was hopeful it would be gone in
Mojave.

As to Dropbox, if the app is already installed and you are prompted
to sign in, while VO will speak the fields as you navigate, it will not
echo what you are typing in. Enter your user ID then move VO and back so
it will read it to you. I have made Dropbox very aware of this but they
need to hear from others too..

I am surprised you are having issues with the Brilliant display. I often use my

Take care,

Extracting wifi info from imac to save for record is this possible?

2018-10-13 Thread matthew dyer
Hi all,

I have a question tha is a unusual request. I just got a new computer and need
to get it online. I am wondering if there is a way to view the wifi code of
the wifi network I am currently connected to. It is a very long code. I had
to have someone enter the code for me since it was stored on there phone. I
would like to have it so that I can store it someware and use it to connect the
new laptop to the network. If this is a bit off topic I appolage in advance.
If there is an app that would allow me to do this. Thanks.

Re: issue with Mojave

2018-10-13 Thread Mike Arrigo
Interesting, never had the problem in Sierra, that makes sense though, to do a
mouse click on the window. I can see good enough to know that there is a box on
the screen, I just can't read it or see good enough to move the mouse to it,
that is a major bug, I will try the mouse click idea.

Re: issue with Mojave

2018-10-13 Thread Mike Arrigo
Just to follow up on this issue, it also happens while installing dropbox,
there is simply no way to enter the administrator password, either I am missing
something or this is a major bug.

Re: issue with Mojave

2018-10-13 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Mike,
What I do in these circumstances is do VO-m-m, bring the mouse, and slide my
finger toward me on the trackpad until I hear “window". I then click by
pressing down on the trackpad and can enter my password. Of course, you have to
turn the trackpad commander off for this to work.
Cheers,

Anne
