Re: VO Jumping Out of Mail: Was - Improving music app experience

I’m running the latest MacOS, and it’s doing the same thing to me. I haven’t
found a pattern to it as of yet, but it seems to be taking place when I delete
a mail message after reading it.

Try going into your VO Utilities using VO-F8, then down to Navigation, and make
sure that the mouse follows the VO cursor. A friend of mine had this same
problem, and if I’m remembering correctly, this is how we fixed it.

When placing a call on your Mac using FaceTime, once the call is connected to
your bank, or where ever you want to access an automated system, just hit
Shift-VO-Space when the call is connected, and you will be able to manually
enter in digits just as if you were using a regular phone.

Once you’ve connected to your bank, hit VO-Shift-Space. This seems to get
focus, and then you can enter the numbers like normal.

Sports Score Updates On My Mac

2017-10-29 Thread Brian Hansen
I’m looking for either an application and/or widget that will allow me to setup
and keep track of my favorite teams, as well as have access to live scores. I
tried installing the Yahoo Sports app for the Mac, but it seems to be pretty
much useless. Not to mention, it hasn’t been updated in a few years. I guess
I’m really looking for the ease and convenience of what I have on the iPhone.
If there isn’t any kind of app or widget available for the Mac, is there a good
web alternative without all of the clutter? Any and all help would be greatly
appreciated.

Blessings,

Brian

Re: Getting Internet Explorer Favorites in to Safari

2017-06-29 Thread Brian Hansen
So far, all of my Google searches have come up empty on an alternative way of
getting the favorites in to Safari. It seems that unless they’re exported out
of IE, then there’s no way to get them into Safari. I would have thought that
someone would have come up with some kind of third party app to handle the
conversion process. Oh well.

Getting Internet Explorer Favorites in to Safari

2017-06-29 Thread Brian Hansen
A friend of mine has replaced his dead PC with a Mac mini. He has a backup
folder containing all of his IE favorites that he would like to some how import
into Safari so they all don't have to be recreated by hand. Since they were
not exported out of IE, they are in their individual files and sub-folder
structure straight out of Windows XP. Is there a way to import them in and/or
copy them into Safari in their present state, or is he just out of luck on this
one? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Blessings,

Brian

Getting Rid of Old Email Addresses That Show Up In the Native Mail App

2017-04-14 Thread Brian Hansen
Using the latest version of MacOS, how do I get rid of old email addresses that
pop up when I go to compose a new mail message? I checked the contact, and the
correct email address is the only one showing, but when I create a new email
message, I’m given the choice of the old address, as well as the current one.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Blessings,

Brian

Re: The Native iOS News App: It's Right There Waiting for You

2017-03-16 Thread Brian Hansen
Hi Mark,

How are you getting around the screen refreshes? When I open an article, and
have VO start reading, I’ll hear the sound as if a web page finishes loading
and VO stops reading. The only way to get VO to start reading again is to
start from the beginning of the article. Other than that, I agree with you.

Merging Folders

2017-02-20 Thread Brian Hansen
I have 2 folders that have the same name on two different backup drives. For
the most part, they’re about 80% identical, but each of them does contain some
files and folders that the other doesn’t. I’d like to merge them into one
folder, but every time I try to copy them, the only choices I get are “Stop”,
or “Replace”. I’ve already found out the hard way that if I choose “Replace”
then the target folder will be completely deleted and replaced with the source
folder, and I’ll lose any files or folders that aren’t in the source folder.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Blessings,

Brian

ICloud music library discrepancies

2017-02-20 Thread Brian Hansen
I’ve got a bit of a mystery on my hands. iTunes on my Mac says that I have
3945 songs in my music library. The “Music Tracker” app on my phone reports
that I have 3923 songs in my iCloud music library. Is there a way to easily
find out which one is actually correct without having to count by hand, or even
worse, start over and rebuild my library from scratch? Any and all help would
be greatly appreciated on this one.

Blessings,

Brian

macOS Encryption Questions

2017-02-17 Thread Brian Hansen
I’m fixing to do a clean install of Sierra on my Mac, and I was wondering
should I erase the disk using MacOS extended with encryption, or should I use
file volt after the MacOS is installed? Also, are there any issues, or
potential issues I need to be aware of when using either of the above methods?
Are these 2 different ways of securing my main drive, or do they work in
conjunction with one another. I’ve tried looking online, but I haven’t found a
lot of detailed information, so any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

When I hit CMD-l, VO says, the phrase “current song”, and then album, but
nothing else after that. It doesn’t actually announce the song title.

Reading of News Articles Using the Actual Twitter Client

I downloaded the actual Twitter client and installed it on my Mac mini, and I’m
wondering how to get to the actual articles.. When I’m down-arrowing through

enter on the article all I seem to see is “Tweet Details” or compose a new
tweet. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated so I don’t have to run

Subject: Is Apple's iCloud website now completely inaccessible

 Hey all,

Ok the old iCloud website was bad enough but this is ridiculous what they
have done with it. Would love to hear if anyone can access mail on the
iCloud site so they can create a mail rule. I used to be able to do this
and the steps were a little weird but now there is no way to get to mail.
I go to iCloud get signed in, go to settings then VO space on settings to
switch app. I can get to mail and I VO space on it and it takes me back to
the main screen of Find your devices. Please do let me know if anyone
knows how to get to mail so I can setup a new mail rule. Thanks,

I completely wiped the drive and started from scratch. At this point, the only
thing that isn’t straight from the factory, is my mail settings, and that I’m
signed in to iTunes.

Hi Anne,

Well, no luck on this end. I even tried restoring the VO default settings, and
reset the PRAM a second time. The settings definitely aren’t sticking, and I’m
currently stuck in the high-verbosity setting even though the VO Utility shows
it set to low. Anything else I can try, besides a larger hammer?

VoiceOver Verbosity Problems

2016-10-09 Thread Brian Hansen
I’m running the latest release of MacOS Sierra, and I’m running into a bit of a
problem with the default verbosity settings. For what ever reason, VoiceOver
seems to be stuck in the high-verbosity setting. I’ve tried changing it to
low, but VO keeps reading and chattering away in the high verbosity mode. When
I go back into the VO Utility, it still shows that it’s set to low, but for
what ever reason, VO doesn’t seem to know that any setting has changed.

I’ve tried turning VO off, and then back on again, re-booting the Mac,
restoring the VO defaults in the VO Utilities, and even loading some completely
different settings from my wife’s account. At this point, nothing seems to
work. Any and all help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Blessings,

Brian
