Not to be quarilous, but it seems to me that a similar debacle with the
App Store took place in an early version of iPhone / iOS. I also seem to
recall something about an iPhone being released under Steve Jobs with a
hardware defect which would cause all Wireless signals to drop if the phone
was held a certain way. this resulted in people hanging up their calls
accidentally by touching the wrong part of their phone. so it seems to me
that jobs wasn't perfect either. just saying...

I am unable to reproduce your problem. I have two iPhones, an iPhone 5S, and an
iPhone 6+. I double-tap on the search tab on the bottom of the display. I then
double-tap on the search field. I then type in my query using the onscreen
keyboard and the search button is in the lower right corner. Or, I use braille
screen input and swipe right with two fingers to activate search. In both
cases, on both iPhones, it just worked right before writing this message.

Hi guys! How are you all? When I type in the app store earlier, and I wanted to
delete what I type on the search box with my bluetooth keyboard or my screen
keyboard did not allow me to delete when I press delete key on the screen
and my delete key on my bluetooth keyboard. I think that is a bug. I double
tap on tehe serch box, and I make sure I'm on it, and I make sure I'm on the
end when I delete it does not work. voiceover does not speak to me at all!
Can anyone here reproduce tht issue? And I also have bluetooth keyboard issues
with the skyep app on my iPhone 6S. When I'm on skype, and hwhen I want to type
a text after reading my messages, and I want to flick right or swipe right to
find the eddit field with my bluetooth keyboard, adn with the finger gesture, I
can't do that, I need to explore by touch only in order to find the eddit
field. I think that is a bug with skype app for IOS. Did anyone here
experience that as well? I'm just wondering so I can report it to apple. This
never happen in 9.3.5 wn i was using skype on my iPhone. I use skype a lot.

I just opened the App Store on my iPhone 6+. I double-tapped on search tab. I
double-tapped on the search edit box. I used the onscreen keyboard to type in
grand clock. I double-tapped on the search button in the lower right corner. It
worked, just like always, and just like when I tried it a few hours ago. It
works in both the US and Australian and New Zealand stores.

Okay. I got it working again. Here’s the long and the short of how to fix
it then I’ll tell you what I think happened.

  1. Double tap the search tab as usual.

  2. Manually type in the search you want.

  3. Now, place one finger on the search button at the bottom right and tap
with the other finger ten times on the screen.

This will pull you in to the updates tab but when you go back in to the
search tab, all should be normal now. It would appear that sighted folks have
been having this issue ever since early May of this year. I found this
solution on the Apple support forums.

I figured that split tapping was the best way to handle this since you have
to tap the search button ten times quickly.

  HTH.

Beats me man. I’ve been fooling around with this for sort of half an
hour now and can’t really figure it out beyond what I’m already able to guess.
If it were just a snafu in the normal process, you’d think they would have
solved it by now. But, since it’s still going on, I gotta figure it’s a
deliberate change in the UI that is meant to push people in to units with force
touch. You know how Apple never admits when things like this go wrong right?
Well, I’m thinking maybe by Monday, if we can’t fiddle with this and work it
out, we’d better report this to Apple and see what if any guidance they have to
offer on this sort of thing. Meantime, a general google search to see if
sighted folks are having the same problems. My guess is that if they are, the
Apple forums will be full of the talk of it by now.

Haven’t really looked yet myself because I’ve been sitting here about
tapping my fingers off trying to work out what I am very certain is a major
change in the UI.

I just spoke to Apple Accessibility, they finally called back. Apparently, it
took them so long, as they were really really looking into it. Apparently,
they said they indeed are having major major major issues, with the app store.

This can be confirmed if you look at the forums on

http://discussions.apple.com

For what it's worth, I just tried a second ago on my 6S, and the old interface
is totally totally back and is working flawlessly. So, hold in there guys. I
think they're aware that there new approach didn't work after all. Thank god
they have image rollbacks. The guy I spoke with, actually ironically just
happened to be an engineer himself as well as an accessibility senior advisor.
He said he couldn't really go into much due to propriatary confidentiality
sake, but, he said they are aware of it, and they are aware it didn't work at
all. It's just a matter of them rolling things back. They're doing it
apparently, he said in phases though, so if your devices still in the app store
seem busted, give it about a day or so and it should be back to how we know it
as.

2016-09-16 Thread Ray Foret jr
Okay. I got it working again. Here’s the long and the short of how to fix it
then I’ll tell you what I think happened.

1. Double tap the search tab as usual.

2. Manually type in the search you want.

3. Now, place one finger on the search button at the bottom right and tap with
the other finger ten times on the screen.

This will pull you in to the updates tab but when you go back in to the
search tab, all should be normal now. It would appear that sighted folks have
been having this issue ever since early May of this year. I found this
solution on the Apple support forums.

I figured that split tapping was the best way to handle this since you have to
tap the search button ten times quickly.

HTH.

Just tried it myself on my iPhone 6+. It’s a
mess alright. I did a search for “grand
clock† and try though I might, I could not
make the results come up except by double
tapping and holding on the search box. Then, it
only showed me one result that it says is from
the app store. Then, I double tapped on the
“view† button just off to the right of
it. Y’all, from the experience I had just
now, it would appear that Apple has gone and done two things.

1. Force touch seems to be necessary to get at
the results listings. I say this due to the
fact that my iPhone 6+ does not have force touch
and therefore it is impossible for me to interact with it.

2. Since the result from the app store bounced
over to and opened iTunes, I am forced to come
to the conclution that Aple has changed the UI
so that the search in the app store no longer is
independant of iTunes but is somehow intigrated
with it. Most anoying seems to be that Apple
did this without bothering to tell us they were
doing it nor offered instructions on how we are supposed to find stuff now.

Now, I must emphasize that this is how it looks
to me at this moment. I could, of course, be
wrong, but, based on this evening’s testing,
looks to me like that’s what’s happened.

“view” button just off to the right of it. Y’all, from the experience I had
just now, it would appear that Apple has gone and done two things.

  1. Force touch seems to be necessary to get at the results listings. I say
this due to the fact that my iPhone 6+ does not have force touch and therefore
it is impossible for me to interact with it.

  2. Since the result from the app store bounced over to and opened iTunes, I
am forced to come to the conclution that Aple has changed the UI so that the
search in the app store no longer is independant of iTunes but is somehow
intigrated with it. Most anoying seems to be that Apple did this without
bothering to tell us they were doing it nor offered instructions on how we are
supposed to find stuff now.

Now, I must emphasize that this is how it looks to me at this moment. I
could, of course, be wrong, but, based on this evening’s testing, looks to me
like that’s what’s happened.

Re: Search tab in iOS app store seems totally busted!

2016-09-16 Thread Jenine Stanley
No trouble here with a 6S either. Just tried to break it too and nothing out of
the ordinary happened. tried swiping, touching and sliding around the screen to
find things. all worked. Doesn’t mean it’s not happening but it’s not happening
here.

Re: Search tab in iOS app store seems totally busted!

2016-09-16 Thread David Chittenden
I am unable to reproduce your problem. I have two iPhones, an iPhone 5S, and an
iPhone 6+. I double-tap on the search tab on the bottom of the display. I then
double-tap on the search field. I then type in my query using the onscreen
keyboard and the search button is in the lower right corner. Or, I use braille
screen input and swipe right with two fingers to activate search. In both
cases, on both iPhones, it just worked right before writing this message.

Re: Search tab in iOS app store seems totally busted!

2016-09-16 Thread Brian Fischler
I to am having an issue with the App Store and search on my new 7 and IOS 10,
not sure if it is device specific but when I dictate nothing enters in the
search box and if I type in what I am looking for VO does not read the results
just skips over them to the tabs at the bottom. Looking like a pretty serious
issue.

I put my finger in the bottom right quadrant of the screen to tap
search, the keyboard disappears entirely, and I land on the update tab
instead. I know I quote, need to just move my finger up a little bit.
Trust me, I am profoundly familiar with the app store, and how it
works. I'm doing this 100% correctly, I assure you beyond a doubt.

Plus, I have enough low vision to see what it's doing. I'm definitely
doing it correctly.

The one time I somehow managed to get the search to carry out, mind you
I dono what the heck I did to do so, there were no results. The key
word I searched for, just to see if I could make anything come up, not
that I was gonna download it was, Pokimon Go. No results came up after
doing the search. Further, when I clicked clear search after the search
field, it wouldn't clear out what I typed.

I've rebooted the phone. NO good. I disconnected and reconnected to my
wifi. No good. I tried on cellular. No good. I even factory reset
the phone. NO good, and no, after doing so, I didn't restore from a
backup. I don't do that with major updates like this. I just start
over clean.

It wasn't doing this earlier this morning, and what's weirded on the
mac is, when I open ITunes, I can't even get to the store anymore with
command+Shift+H in the update that just came out. It bwonks at me, if I
try. I literally have to vo+Right arrow to the store radio button, then
VO+Space on it. Incredibly, incredibly! clunky!

Is anyone else seeing this stuff?

Chris.
