Re: calendars, time zones time changes etc
I'm surprised you haven't yet received an answer from some iphone user. If it's truly the case that iphone can't do this, get an Android phone. It works there perfectly. Maybe this little nudge of mine will help get you an iphone answer. Hope so! Janina jean parker writes: > Hi Tim and All: > > Sorry, I didn’t clarify the most fundamental thing. Re: calendars, time zones time changes etc
I've had no problems using Google Calendar. Note that you can set the time zone of any Google Calendar appointment. You can even set a different time zone for start and end times, so that you can correctly add flights to a Google Calendar. jean parker writes: > Hello All: > > Let me try to explain this question properly. > > I travel a lot for work and frequently change time zones. Re: calendars, time zones time changes etc
Hi, I do this regularly in my calendar app on my iPhone. Whilst creating a new appointment: double-tap on the start date/time field. The first field is the date selector. The second field is hours selector. The third field is minutes selector. I use 24 hour time, so I do not have an AM/PM selector. The last field is the timezone. Double-tap on this field. Double-tap on the clear button. Type the name of the city in the search field, then right-flick through the suggestions. Double-tap on the correct city and the timezone will be set for the start time of the appointment. Now, the appointment will always reflect the correct local time, even when one travels. I use the calendar to schedule flights across timezones, and this is tracked correctly as well. To do so, after filling out the start time including the timezone field, fill out the end time including the timezone field for the destination, and the calendar will track and show both times converted to the local timezone. The nonconverted times can be checked in the appointment. In my opinion, the native calendar app on iOS is quite powerful. Hi Tim and All: Sorry, I didn’t clarify the most fundamental thing. I use my calendar on my iphone and not my computer. What you explained makes sense but I need it to work on my i phone. Re: calendars, time zones time changes etc
Hi, In Calendar Preferences, under the Advanced tab, make sure that the Enable Time Zone Support is checked. When this is checked, when you set a time for a specific event, there's also a Time Zone option you can modify. So, for example, you could set an event for 10 am EST on your calendar when you are in PST time. If you combine this action with setting the Time Zone of your computer, it should automatically make the changes for you. Setting the Time Zone of your computer can be done manually, or it can be set automatically according to your current location. So, in System Preferences, in the Date & Time pane, under the Time Zone tab, if the checkbox is checked to Set Time Automatically by Location, then your Mac will determine its location and set the Time Zone accordingly. The caveat here is that you need to make sure that Location Services is enable for your Mac. With both of these items enabled, what you're hoping for should be accomplished in that if you've set the event for 10 am EST while you were at home in a different Time Zone such as MST, when you travel to New York in EST for the event, all times should properly be managed. I hope this makes some sort of sense. I'm not sure if it does to me, but it's the best my brain could word this morning :)/ Later... calendars, time zones time changes etc
Hello All: Let me try to explain this question properly. I travel a lot for work and frequently change time zones. Simultaneously, I have to schedule appointments with people who are in various time zones. If I am in one certain time zone and I want to set a time with someone who is located in a different time zone I can figure out the time difference with no problem provided that I am staying on the time zone I am on when I set the appointment. However, if I set the appointment then change time zones myself the time I have set doesn’t come out right. To my way of thinking, a smart calendar should be able to adjust these timings correctly but that doesn’t seem to happen. Does anyone have suggestions for solving this problem?
