[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 630535] Re: 1.3RC1 CRON job for recent activities not set by default

2010-09-06 Thread Richard Mansfield
Are you sure you meant blocktype_cron?

The one that looks like this:

plugin| callfunction | nextrun | minute | hour | day |
month | dayofweek
--+---+-++--+-+---+---
 externalfeed | cleanup_feeds | 2010-09-07 03:30:00 | 30 | 3| * | *

 externalfeed | refresh_feeds | 2010-09-06 18:00:00 | 0 | *| * | *

Yeah. That's the one. I set refresh_feeds to 5 minutes and then the
Recent Activity and Topics I'm following blocks refreshed. Does this
sound strange? Why is it set to 0? It makes sense to me?

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 631278] Re: friend request issues (with two similar accounts)

2010-09-06 Thread Richard Mansfield
I had a look at the log -- it looks like the error occurred when trying
to accept a friend request from a user you were already friends with.
We should detect this case and maybe just reload the page, or do
something less ugly than the site unavailable message.

Nice w0rk on the upgrade. I'm loving it so far. Just needs some pretty serious
usability design changes but its definitely on its way to becoming a fantastic
app, in my opinion.

PROBLEM

Upgraded from 1.25 to 1.3rc1 on PHP5.26 MySQL 5. I'm using Firefox on a Windows
7/64 OS if that helps.

Everything is working very except:

Click on Profile...long time to load but OK finally. No link to edit Profile
page. Link on top nav should say My Profile and then a settings link in the
corner. IMHO

To edit my profile page I have to go to My Portfolio instead of Profile, then
when I click on Edit profile under the Dashboard listing it gives me A
nonrecoverable error occured. This probably means you have encountered a bug in
the system

When I click on Site AdministrationExtensions I get the same error.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 630535] Re: 1.3RC1 CRON job for recent activities not set by default

2010-09-06 Thread Andrew Robert Nicols
Hi Mike,

The mahara cron jobs follow the same notion as the unix crontab. So
those fields are the value of that unit to run at.

That is to say that:
0 * * * *
means that refresh_feeds should run at 0 minutes past every hour

Changing the minute field to 5 would just make it run at 5 past each hour
rather than at the top of the hour.
I suspect that it just takes a while for the cron to run and that everything
was functioning correctly.

It may be worth re-examining your error log (Usually your Apache error
log) - unless you have debugging turned on, you shouldn't see any cron
messages, but there may be some warnings about jobs not being run
because their nextrun time was too old. Even if this were the case, you
shouldn't be seeing more than a 5-10 minute delay as missed jobs are re-
scheduled for 5 minutes after the cron run. How often are you running
cron?

You may want to have a look at the crontab manpage for more information
if you're not familiar with it (http://www.manpagez.com/man/5/crontab/).

I think I'll mark this bug as Invalid for the moment as the database
change you've made won't really have actually changed anything except
the time past the hour the job should run and I don't believe that this
is a coding bug.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 631278] Re: friend request issues (with two similar accounts)

2010-09-06 Thread Andrew Robert Nicols
Having real trouble actually replicating this bug - the link in the
e-mail only takes you to the profile page, and since friendship has
already been established, I don't see the 1 Pending friend request.

Alpha - Chrome
Bravo - Firefox
Charlie - Not logged in

Alpha Requests friendship with Bravo
Bravo accepts friendship with Alpha
Bravo writes on Alpha's wall
Alpha requests friendship with Charlie
Bravo clicks on link in Charlie's e-mail
(http://mahara.local/user/view.php?id=3)
--- No pending user request

As a result, I can't reproduce the rest of the bug either.

However, a potential fix could be:
get_record_sql from usr_friend matching the two users
- if match found, delete any pending requests for between these users and
redirect as normal adding the normal OK message (or alternatively telling them
that they're already friends).
- match not found - continue

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 530656] Re: WYSIWYG Editor for Editing View Text Boxes is not available in Full Screen Mode

2010-09-06 Thread Andrew Robert Nicols
An alternative which would probably suit a majority of people is to use the
autoresize plugin to make the box larger as content is added.
Another alternative would be to write a new fullscreen plugin to open the
editor in a semi-fullscreen mode (I'm thinking the gallery-like popups you see
all over the shop for viewing larger images etc).

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 631277] Re: Registration URL does not work

2010-09-06 Thread Ruslan Kabalin
Having looked into it with Andrew, I believe the problem happens if
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable is not treated by mail
client correctly (or has been removed/replaced by MTA), so URL in email
body contains non-decoded quoted-printable characters. Given that '='
(equal sign) after quoted-printable encoding is replaced with '=3D', any
non-decoded URLs with parameters looks like
http://apache.local/mahara/register.php?key=3DO1mVGHqKCsPfNb2o; in the
email client (while correct key is O1mVGHqKCsPfNb2o).

The attached patch allows you to replicate the bug (it simulates as if
Content-Transfer-Encoding is not set).

By the way, if email has been bounced, you will have the same '3D'
prefixed key in URL on your $cfg-noreplyaddress, as original headers
will be replaced and email client will not apply quoted-printable
decoding.

Carlie, can you please have a look at problematic URL and confirm whether key
value starts from '3D'. Also would be helpful if you paste headers from
registration email if possible. Can you please also tell us what sort of email
client do you use and whether you use any anti-virus software that checks
incoming mail?

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 631277] Re: Registration URL does not work

2010-09-06 Thread Ruslan Kabalin
If Charlie confirms that URL is prefixed with 3D, the easiest solution
of course could be using 8bit (default in phpmailer) encoding rather
than 'quoted-printable', assuming that most of servers support 8BITMIME.
Though, it may have some implications I am not aware of as I do not have
a deep knowledge in mail systems.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 631278] Re: friend request issues (with two similar accounts)

2010-09-06 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
I could not reproduce the error today when I created a new user and went
through the steps I had detailed above.

Bravo clicks on link in Charlie's e-mail
(http://mahara.local/user/view.php?id=3) - For me this is still:
Charlie clicks on link in Alpha's mail and get's taken to Alpha's
profile page being logged in as Bravo. New (and better) though is that
Bravo can only remove Alpha from his friends.

Were it possible to verify that the correct user is actually logged in
when a friend request is sent and the user clicks on the link. Though it
may not occur too often that people have multiple accounts.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 530656] Re: WYSIWYG Editor for Editing View Text Boxes is not available in Full Screen Mode

2010-09-06 Thread Craig Eves
Hi Andrew

We have just had feedback from an mahara admin who sees this as a major
problem - users are now copying and pasting from word or using google
docs instead of the builtin editor.

Increasing the size of the editor window is required to make the editor
usable.

The autoresize plugin sounds good as it will keep the simpler interface
as default rather than the more complex interface of the full screen
mode. I assume that the full screen mode will still be accessible using
this option.

In Mahara 1.3 the wysisyg editor is no longer available in Full Screen Mode.
Therfore it is difficult to enter and format longer texts.

Furthermore you can't alter the wysiwyg size and look in the templates css file.
This limits theming options!

2010-09-06 Thread Richard Mansfield
I expect it's possible to force the user to log out and another to log
in by adding a userid to the link. But probably not worth rushing to
fix this for 1.3 - it's been present in every version of Mahara so far
and only caused mild annoyance to the testers developers who log in
with multiple identities!

When editing a grouphomepage or a dashboard view type, you can set the theme
for the view, but when viewing the group/homepage, the theme isn't used.

Options are:
a) Don't allow them to choose the theme; or
b) Have the relevant pages respect themes.

Option a is obviously pretty easy by modifying view/blocks.php to only assign
viewthemes if the view isn't in array('grouphomepage', 'dashboard'),
Option b may be preferable long term.

Bug description:
The profile box of the sunset theme seems to have different padding than other
themes. The name moves to the next line quite early. As there is a line, it's
distracting and doesn't look so good.

Chrome version: 6.0.472.53

The 'grippie' div element beneath the suspend container in
/admin/users/edit.php covers the text on Chrome.
Doesn't seem to be a problem in Firefox 3.0.6 - haven't tried other browsers.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 619284] Re: grouphomepage and dashboard views don't use themes, but can be set

2010-09-06 Thread Richard Mansfield
I can't remember exactly. One reason is probably that it wasn't
straightforward and I was lazy.

But I think another reason is that the view is not the whole page for
the dashboard group homepage; it's only used for part of the page. To
fit in with the normal site navigation, those pages really need to use
the full header rather than the small header, and when you're using the
full header, going from one page to another with a different theme can
give you a bit of a nasty surprise, especially when the menu switches
from the right to the left for example.

You can always test this effect out by turning off small headers in site
options, and then navigating to a view that has a different theme from
the site.

It would be nice if we could leave the header always showing one theme,
and only change the view's theme for the view's portion of the page, but
because of the way css works, that would have been a lot of work.

Bug description:
When editing a grouphomepage or a dashboard view type, you can set the theme
for the view, but when viewing the group/homepage, the theme isn't used.

Options are:
a) Don't allow them to choose the theme; or
b) Have the relevant pages respect themes.

Option a is obviously pretty easy by modifying view/blocks.php to only assign
viewthemes if the view isn't in array('grouphomepage', 'dashboard'),
Option b may be preferable long term.
