Yeh, cli scripts are save enough. I mean while the command is running
any user on the system it is running on can see the arguments (and a

Very well, I'll upstream my password reset CLI script. Unfortunately
since we're about two weeks after the 15.04 feature freeze now, it'll
need to wait for 15.10 to be included with the core distro.
Cheers,
Aaron

Perhaps we should shift to using Nested Set for our hierarchy management
then. I've opened a separate bug to pursue that idea:

Actually, looking at the code I have in the migration script, it looks
like it's meant to sort out artefact hierarchy - so I'll add it here:
// need to do special sortby as child artefacts can have a lower id
number than their parent
// due to one being able to move older files

We try to avoid database upgrades in minor version updates, but since
this is a high priority bug with quite visible effects, I think it's
worth putting a fix for it into the next 1.10 minor release.

Public bug reported:
Originally, we just had each artefact store its parent ID. This is slow
because it requires running multiple queries to find all the descendants
of a node.
Then, we added a path element to each artefact. This is better, but
you can't get a performance improvement by indexing
The patch doesn't actually have any db upgrades in it - not sure where
that idea came from

Another idea would be to sniff the DB, and if they're using Postgres 8.4
or later, we use a recursive query on the artefact.parent column. Which,
apparently, will probably be more performant than examining the path
column or using the nested set technique.
To test:
1. Install Mahara 1.9
2. Create some Text box blocks, with their underlying artefacts.
3. Make some text box blocks that are used in multiple pages, some with
attachments, and some that just contain plain text.
4. Upgrade to Mahara 1.10
5. Run the command-line script.

Public bug reported:
In Mahara 1.10 we split the old text box artefact block into two
blocks: note, which is backed by a note artefact type that retains
the full Text box functionality, and text, which is meant to be a
dead-simple easy-to-use text displayer.
We also added an admin screen to
