I have a client who is interested in using a light
pen. Does anyone have any experience of using a light pen with MapInfo? If so,
for what purposes was it used and how successful was it?

Hi Everyone
I had been looking for Applications,Add-ins, etc which provide Mapping
functionalities to Sreadsheet Programs. It would be something like the
Microsoft Map built by MapInfo for Excel.I found Microsoft Map
not that nifty and hence looking for more.
Would therefore like to have your
Dear all,
I've used to faced this problem since the first time I've used Mapinfo on
Windows (Version 3) up to now (ver 5.5). After you have carry out on-screen

Thanks for responding regarding our VM problem with the UT.
We have tracked the problem down to a Windows messaging problem when the UT
Hi,
I was wondering if someone could tell me how to display two tables (1
vector, 1 raster) simultaneously in the same current mapper. The raster
image is georeferenced to the vector image but in the Map - layer
control dialog when both are checked as visible only one or the other

Hi everybody.
My question is simple. With MapInfo, I want to place house numbers on a
map and respect their placement. I use a street coverage which contains
4 columns called "fromleft", "toleft", "fromright", "toright".
Does anyone have an idea ?
Thanks.

As simple as it maybe I cannot work out how to create a 'Mask'. I
have a polygon within which I wish to see the contents of other
layers but outside of it I want to mask the data. Can anyone point
me in the right direction?

Could you please summarize the responses you got? Would be helpful.

Another question to ask, which is one of the most crucial things which is
important to my project.
I am wondering if anyone can tell me where or how to use the Graph
statement. I want to make the x-axis as a logarithmic scale, like you can do
when you plotting a graph in MapInfo V5.5. Would

In response to a personal interst of mine, we've started a section

We encountered on one application (MBX + VB) a DDE time out error in the
following setup : Windows95, MI4.5/5.5
This would occur after some "activity" with other programs, like office. The
only way we found out for getting rid of it would be to restart Windows.
It does not seem to be MapInfo

I've seen this many times and yes, with other applications\processes

I don't use DDE any more because it is too unstable. I have rewritten
everything in OLE. This was my solution to the problem.

Fran,
The MapBasic help file gives you this sort of information. I have attached
the following excerpt which relates to SQL selections (using MB, but same
principles apply). Also from the MB help, on the like statement:

Is there reference material that gives a better explanation of SQL select in
MI than the reference and user's guides that come with it? The reference
guide lacks what should be simple things such as the use of like statements,
wildcards, etc. Since every sql handles these statements slightly
I have intermediate skills in both MapInfo and Visual Basic. I was wondering
if MapBasic is similar to Visual Basic? I am guessing it is, but maybe not.
Does anyone know both MB and VB that can give me a comparison?
Thanks,
