Hi Dina,
when you import DXF into MI there is a Projection button on the
dialog. Use it to set up the projection and also the map limits.
If you have an object in the DXF that is out of those limits you
get your error. To check the limits use zoom/extents in AutoCad
( you can have a small

Hi,
I'd like testing MapInfo and Oracle 8i release2.
Is there a new release of the EasyLoader that support Oracle 8i release2 ?
If yes, where can I find it ?

Dear List,
Sorry, this mail that I received today looks very strange. It was
posted on 1st March and was in circulation, suddenly it pops up again
in the list.
Sorry for the inconvenience and I have the answer already for the

Dear List,
I am trying to create daily plots of positions of sea drifters using MapInfo. I have
a text file which is appended each day with the new positions of the drifters and I am
then plotting this. This means that each new plot shows the same information as the
previous day but also

Hello List,
Thanks for all your input. I was hoping to find a way to save a selection

rename a selection is through the Query menu and select all into a new table

Could someone please assist me.
I would like to create an A3 template layout that I can readily use to
create maps.
In this A3 template layout I would like a logo, a map title, and the date to
be permanent features. How do I go about doing this?
Thanks.

Hi Mick,
If the query is based on a SQL statement, the query can be saved in
the workspace. On the other hand, if the query is based on the user's
selection of elements, there is no way for the workspace to keep track of
the selection. So it can't be saved even if you give it a name.
If
Thanks for all that answered my "metric" question.

If you want to set the default in MapInfo so that when you use functions the units are
"km" instead of "mi" as in Query -- Select then using "functions" in Assist pick
"Area". By default

Thanks to all who have responded so far to my inquiry about EIA with MI. The

Brett,
When you created the BindLayer to plot the points on the map, you created a
dataset at the same time. The code to read the values in the dataset

Dim ftr As MapXLib.Feature

Hello All,
Trying to create a grid of map book cells with
different heights than widths. The cells must be
2,500 FT E-W by 2,000 FT N-S.
The gridmaker that ships with Mapinfo can only create
"square" grids, and although the kgm gridmaker allows
for different height and width for the "total"
Hi Vinesh,
This is straight forward. Simply create your layout as you want it
including the map frame and then save it as a separate workspace.
To get the date working open the workspace file in a text editor and find
the string that you entered when you created it and replace it with the

I am doing some comparative analysis between Map Info and some of their

To MapBasic Developers
I recently undertook a small MapBasic project that turned out to be rather
more difficult than I anticipated and lead to the development of the subject

The task seemed simple - create a 2D map of certain air traffic control

Just a short note to thank everyone who replied(and there were alot of

Daniel,
the easiest way is to save a copy of the first table, append each of the
other three tables using Table Append Rows to Table so that you end us
with a single table covering all of your 4 existing tbles. Then
1. edit your new table,
2. select all
3. set target on,
4. draw the zone
It is always very dangerous to work with the cosmetic layer because it is
only defined as an unbounded long-lat and copying objects to it may cause
changes in the nodes coordinates.
There is a much simpler way to do it, just "save as" of selection with a
given name. If you look the trace of that
the simplest answer to your problem is to convert the regions to polylines, and then
back to regions - two lines of code and Mapinfo puts the centroid in the middle where
it should be for you.
