Another thing you can do change the point to a small circle or square( some

Dear Gilbert,
It is because MapInfo can have only one object attached to one record, and
the object is already there, it is your polyon. In fact mixing polygons and
points is not either a good idea, and is even forbidden in Arcview. So I
suggest that you save a copy of your polygon table with
Hi Sidney
It's pretty simple actually - just a few steps.
1) Make a copy of your original table - use File | Save Copy As
2) Close the original and open the copy
3) Use the Table | Maintenance | Table Structure command to add two columns
to your new table - call them X and Y and set the type to
Try this,
Add a column called LAT and one called LONG to your table under

3. Type in:
update YOUR_TABLE set obj=CreatePoint(CentroidX(obj),CentroidY(obj))
where YOUR_TABLE is the name of your mapinfo

My suggestion is that you create a standard symbol, maybe a basic dot or

Did you use the Create Points utility from the Table Menu and assign the
proper columns of your spreadsheet to Lat and Long? Were your Lats and
Longs in Decimal format? Did you use negative numbers for East and South
and positive numbers for North and West instead of N, S E and W? You need to
Dear Kris
The fields that contain X, Y cordinates must be numeric and not a
character string!
