Why not replace them while you are there.
Also check that the turbo boost sensor line is open, clear and
connected without any cracks in it all the way to the IP.

I'd go with the newer I6 and the auto tranny that comes with it
probably a version of the 4L80E. Should have more power, better fuel
injection and the computer is wired right on the engine. If you want
smaller there is also a 4 cyl version.

I am nearly finished rebuilding the front end on my '77 240d and, yes it can be
done by someone with some mechanical ability but GET THE CORRECT SPRING
COMPRESSOR. I used a cheap Chinese set and I would not recommend that for any
sane person, it added hours to the job and made it much more

Lots of rubber bits contribute to the stability of the car. It's highly
unlikely that the springs are bad. The first thing to do is check ride height

Might be time to look at new pads for the 124.090 as the light is
starting to flicker.

I replaced my front pads on my 91 300D 2.5T recently with a set of Jurids
bought from Rusty for roughly $53. Included with the 4 pads was new caliper
bolts and new pad wear indicators. So far they seem to leave little dust
and do not squeak. Very happy so far -

Hey Manfred - good suggestion. Actually, I may have a couple of the
special Bleed Screws that (I think) are 1-way drain valves. Have never
tried them
but now is a good chance.

are the bearing races in the hub replaceable or would I need a new hub?
If you can get them out, they're replaceable. An old farmer's
trick is to arc-weld a bead across the face of the race. When
it cools it contracts, reducing the diameter of the race slightly.
Repeat as necessary. Only if
the car appears low in the back.
If it rides low, and it's squirrely, I'd suspect all the
rubber bits first. Bushings, subframe mounts, differential
mount, spring pads, etc. Rubber is somewhat more prone to
wear out than spring steel. Spring problems are the _last_
thing you should suspect.
they also replaced delivery valve seals. I am not sure what these are
or how they would be serviced. The service report said that all (6)
were replaced.
They're in the injection pump. Right on top of it where the
pipes bolt on.

out of first gear unless you lift off the throttle? (Only
above about 25 MPH.) It's not the kickdown switch, as it
operates if you toe it, as does the side-gate switch in the

I think you can buy a board to hook up multiple cams. I looked at
motion detector camera software, the only free one was a Linux pkg but
it seemed fairly limited to one or two types of cheap web cams. Others
for winders were like $25, just google for them and a bunch will pop up.

i've been using the akebono euro ceramics for the past few years and really
like them overall. not dusty at all. long wearing. good stopping. no
