I managed to get the 1966 230 started today with an external fuel tank. It was a little reluctant at first, but once the fuel was flowing through the carbs it idled pretty well. It pulled out under its own power and was lined up with the rest of the cars. It didn't smoke or knock, generally gave

Just the pictures are mixed up... the main photos are swapped. The other photos for the cars are correct. No swapping of parts. The 230 actually looks great, except for the terrible rust and repair underneath. The 220S is a little rougher overall, but more solid. Its certainly worth saving.

I wonder about the mileage on the 85 300SD.  It looks like a lot of blow by on the valve cover for only 121,400 miles.  I don't get that much blow by on my 80 300SD with around 425,000 miles.  Plus, I got well over 200,000 miles on the starter on both my 617s. Just an observation. Best

Given how easily it started and well it ran, I haven't concerns about the engine. It didn't show any blow by at idle, so it's likely an issue of messy breather hoses. There were plenty of high mileage cars there... I don't suspect any reason it's not an honest car. On Friday, May 22, 2015,
