As another poster mentioned, I have had good luck with a Whirlpool Duet washer. There were several models to choose from, and I went with the German made one that had a more robust bearing setup. It failed with an error message once, and the error message actually pointed to a defective switch.

My new (LG) washer has a cleaning cycle. Rather that paying for the pricey cleaner powders, I just buy a handful of KoolAde lemonade packets. I think I use about four of them at a time, costs me all of a buck for a cleaning. I do the same with my Bosch dishwasher. Makes it all nice and shiny
