IMO the sweet spot for a decent long-lived watch is $100-200. My Invicta
Titanium chronograph cost me something in that range. It has an ETA quartz
movement and keeps great time

Yesterday I looked at a Tissot priced at $550, which is pretty steep for my
budget, but a really nice watch.
Why don't you just buy a leather band for the one you have? Maybe like
$10 and yer good ta go... Or better yet, make one from MBTex and it
will last forever!

I've had 2 Citizen Eco Drives over the last decade. I wish they could
build cars like these watches. Other than having to change the date
occasionally, you set it and ferget it. I once left one in a drawer for
over a week, kept perfect time. I am pretty hard on watches too.
