Well it is just
Bad car names? Come on guys, you aren't even scratching the surface.
(I think the real reason Germans use numbers are for the very
translations reasons names bring.)
My List:
Daihatsu Naked - http://www.jama.org/autoTrends/detail.cfm?id=239
(I thought it was DeLorean's that were Naked)

I think officially they were marketed only as model names like every
other MB until the advent of the /8 Strichacht w114/w115 in 1968.
S-Class wasn't used until the the w116 and the silly notion of

There were several models that were nick-named Pontons. They included
the 180/190s (W120/121) that dated from '53 thru the early '60s (I owned
a '54 180 with a flat head 4 cylinder 52 hp engine for about a year).
I like TuRD much better. Dodge adds the acronym SLT to some of its
trucks...anyone care to guess what that works out to in my juvenile
little mind?

What's up with the Kia Sephia?
I think the auto industry is running out of names.
Why start just naming them after cities (as in the Hyundai Tucson?)
What? Nobody mentioned the Toyota Tacoma? Well, for folks in the PNW,
Tacoma is well known for being really stinky. This was originally caused by
many pulp mills in the area, and asarco, etc. So, PNWers think Stinky
when they hear/see Toyota Tacoma.

What about the Tempo and Escort? What inspired those names? To something
more current, where did Aveo come from?

I think it refers to uni-body construction, though I don't know what
it means. The Deutsch-English translator at www.dict.cc translates it
to pontoon, which could be an example of uni-body construction, I

That's funny. What's even funnier is the fact that for some reason
they tack on the acronym TRD for some of those trucks. What could be
