Yes the older Saturns were remarkably good cars. They feel cheap as hell but
they just keep ticking. Kari’s has about 155K and she’s changed the oil
religiously every 3K miles since new. She wants to get a few years old BMW X3
and will probably just keep the Saturn which will then do winter
60-70k miles, roughly.
And 19 years is considerably more than 6.

My '07 Ion only has 219k on the odo. That'll fix her up for another five years.

I just had the timing belt replaced in the Golf -- found out a friend has the

Most timing belt issues are maintenance failures, but I remember a friend of
mine complaining that her 87 Escort broke its belt at 35k miles and less than a

the warranty expired

I thought there were two styles of freeway commuting in SoCal, HOV lanes and
"sitting in traffic".
A frisky E-mobile like a Spark or a Bolt excels at both.
Maybe recently but for a couple decades if you wanted a boring toaster of a
car you bought a Camry or for something slightly "sporty" an Accord.
The Prius is more for those who want a smug toaster...

Probably you can put 10,000 miles on the Subaru and sell it for nearly what
you paid for it too. The big depreciation is done, it probably won't decline
much now.I was considering one as a replacement for my Jetta but I can't
stomach the mileage hit. They're mostly rated <30mpg, I can't handle
