Yep. Twenty years. Can retire any time I choose.
And it changes everything knowing that. What little filter I had (should I say

Like Rick said, (and he has the inside scoop on UPS anyway, doesn’t he?) the 
shipper has to initiate the claim, as they were the ones who had the 
legal/business relationship with the shipper, you don’t.

That stinks, but it can and does work. FedEx has similar policies, and when 
they packed and later crushed a Mac Pro in Apple factory packaging that was 
sent to me, the buddy who sold it to me had to file the claim. It took about 30 
days to get a settlement, which I split with him, which was a pretty good deal 
for both of us. Especially since UPS didn’t want the computer back, so I got to 
keep it - and it worked perfectly. Still does.

The shipper has to file the claim. UPS isn't particularly responsive to damage 
claims as it is.

In UPS' defense, in the above case had the shipper properly insured the engine, 
it would have arrived. It would have been quite expensive though, and people

The seller shipped it via UPS.

UPS damaged the box, as shown in the second picture, and the smaller of
the two pieces which make up the injector fell out.

I contacted the UPS Damage Exception group at 1-800-742-5877 about the
damage and sent in the pictures they requested.

I contacted the seller via eBay's messaging system. The seller responded,
"Oh my. I'm sorry to hear this. I appreciate you contacting us. If
nothing gets resolved for you please let us know."

I contacted UPS some days later to find out what was going on and found
they had approved my claim a few days after I submitted it. They said
they had sent the seller some paperwork to fill out and when they
received it back, they would process the claim and issue the payment.
They apparently want the number of the account which sent the package.

I then again contacted the seller via eBay's messaging system and wrote,

Dear bluebutterfly81522,

I just called the UPS Damage Exception Group at 1-800-651-2352.

ISM or conductor plate.  I'm getting to be kind of an expert on these 
things now, and my buddy Todd can do the programming so scoring used 
ones from the junkyard and flashing them can get it fixed relatively 
cheaply.  For $1200 it might be worth a gamble

I’m not criticizing, by any means, just pointing out that they’re clearly 
offshore. Please be sure to let the list know when they arrive and what your 
observations are as far as the fit/finish and quality. We really need some 
reasonably priced alternatives for the W211 and similar vintage cars that have 
the perforated panels that make them so easy to rip.

Yeah I don't know where they are located. But that is still better English than 
half of what people write in FBM ads.

They were responsive to my inquiries, and sent me a color swatch quickly. The 
seat covers took a few weeks but assuming they make them to order that's 
probably not unreasonable.
