stem where the keepers sit when reusing used valves. Check to see
that there are no burrs there left by the keepers. These burs
should be cleaned up with a fine honestone even before you take

AutoZone currently has an oil change special 5qt jug of Castrol GTX and Bosch
filter gets you a ~$7 rebate, final price about $13. Of course you have to
send in for the rebate, which most people won't end up doing, which is why they
offer it.
Syntec is a faux synthetic, hydrocracked oil.
I need to replace the seat covers for both front seats on my W116, but I really
only need the seat itself, the backs (upright part) are fine. Anyone know if
these are available separately?

Yes, it's possible. One night about 25 years ago, SWMBO came in and said
she couldn't get our 80 240D in gear. 'Shonuf; I went out and checked.
Clutch was engaged and would not disengage. I took clutch out and found one
of the little coil springs inside it about the size of my thumb broken
In the one I took apart, the synchros were worn and several bearings
were burned. Don't know it it was from running with no oil or from
the gear lube.

I use good old 80% isopropyl rubbing alcohol, just douse anything
except the screen, fans, and harddrive with it, clean with paper
towels / qtips / lint free cleaning cloth / etc, then blow-dry with
