Are you sure you didn't switch the feed and return hoses from the tank? If
the fuel level is below the tank's return and hoses are switched you can't
get fuel out of the tank. If the manual primer on the lift pump doesn't
move fuel, I'd start there

My '85 190D had a fault somewhere that I never determined, when the engine
wasn't running the temp gauge would jump around but once running it was steady.
Strange but not too annoying.

Also while the temp gauge is up around 100C the actual temp at the outlet (near
the thermostat) is more like 87C. IR reading at the temp sender is more like

I wondered if grounding one end would send the temp gauge high so I took a
jumper wire out with me. Fred had it backwards, the passenger side temp sensor
is in charge of the aux fan, the top side one is for the electo-magnetic fan

Are there any reasons why I would NOT attempt to RR the starter solenoid
without removing the starter from the block? Seems like I can get in there ok
(lots of room around a 617.910 in a W115), but worried about exploding bits or
perhaps being unable to hook the fork on reassembly...
