Or take 3 screws out, pop the center vents out, open the flap with your hand
and stick a exhaust hanger in there to prop it open. Takes 5 minutes or less.

I did it. Cheaped out, hacked the center vent flap, didn't pull the dash.
Desperate times etc. Now I have airflow from the center vents, controlled
by the dial only, instead of by the vacuum pod and the dial. Note that
there are two flaps for the center vents, one "inner" (deeper in the heater
After action report.
Something weird going on, the vent temperature air is colder when the
engine is at idle than when the engine speed is elevated to 2000 rpm. Is
this an indication of a bad expansion valve, or have I over-charged the
system?
When I started, the vent temperature was only about

Max,
If you don’t find a leak of significance, I would highly recommend evacuating
and recharging with a can of ClipLight sealer. Even if you don’t have leaks of
significance, it will help to eliminate the losses through the hoses due to age.
Looks like I'll have to get one of Rich's S-Klasse cars instead, jury rig a
hitch to tow my sail boat
Unless Craig is offering that as the "delivered" price?

Craig,
You've pointed out a flaw (topping up won't keep the blend correct) but if
I've got a leak, the blend is already different from what I installed.
I've got enough cans of the stuff, so I'll modify my plan to check for
leaks first, and then if the leak appears to be easy to get to and

So who's got the running list, most up to date, of all the politicos guilty

That West Trashley ML looks pretty beat, seller couldn't even be bothered
to vacuum out the leaves and dirt.
"AC just needs a charge", isn't that a "Don't walk, run" flag? I'd have to
show up with a charge of R134 and my leak detector and try to prove him

Or come get this ML I got and get the tranny sorted out. It's in really
nice shape otherwise, nicer than that one, though it will need a new
tire or two.

That will sell pretty quickly I'll bet. Suspicious that there are few pix
of the rear and passenger side, I see the "Diesel" trunk lettering is
messed up / missing some letters. Aftermarket tail-lights to follow the

Yeah look at that link I sent, it had the cap (along with the dip wire and wire
plug deal) which appeared to be just a plastic tube cork without a locking
thing. This ML actually has one there now, cork with no locking thingie.
I ordered stuff from Advance Auto the other day, with the 25% off
The only problem with these stories is how he keeps saying the car isn’t
meant to tow anything. That’s not true at all, as in Europe tow hitches
(anhangerkupplung) are very common and the cars are certainly designed for
their regular use.
S classes make excellent tow vehicles!
