"Wet Kit" is a PTO driven hydraulic pump that allows the use of auxiliary hydraulic equipment to be used on the trailer you hook to, such as a 20 ton hydraulic winch, for example, or a trailer mounted crane.. etc etc..like a roll back car trailer, for example. A Wet Kit is a pretty expensive add on, usually... at $1,500 buy price, the wet kit salvage price would be near that value. Re: [MBZ] Mercedes Digest, Vol 181, Issue 28
I must admit, I spent a lot of time working on air cooled VW's. Staring in highschool and progressing to owning a gas station for four years after college. I tried to get one engine rebuilt a week in addition to the other repairs. Lots of floors, rocker panels and ball joint front axle reinforcements. I still have the engine line boring equipment as well as an assortment of air cooled VW'S, mostly rusting away. My attention lately has been to Mercedes vehicles. Re: [MBZ] 1995 E320 $3,500
It’s not so much that the upholstery “wore out” but the perforated material in the center of the cushion breaks down from wear and UV and tears easily. My 1995 E420 has the exact same issue, probably because it spend most of it’s life in south Florida. If this car spent a lot of time outside that could easily explain it. Also, the outer panels of the lower seat cushions in the rear are broken down as well, also an indicator of UV damage. -D > On Dec 6, 2020, at 5:14 PM, Allan Streib via Mercedes > wrote: > > Weird that a 62K mile car would have the seat leather worn out and need > all that suspension work? > > https://columbus.craigslist.org/cto/d/columbus-1995-mercedes-e320/7242584885.html > > > ___ > http://www.okiebenz.com > > To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ > > To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: > http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com > ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Re: [MBZ] VW Content: Isn't Poos cute?
We had a 70 Beetle, dropped #3 exhaust valve and we had a family friend rebuild it. Rusted away, but we all drove the stuffings out of it. Great car for what it was. The trick to them is that they NEED valve adjustments, particularly on #3 cylinder because the oil cooler is on that side and #3 tends to run warm. If you don't keep them adjusted, the exhaust valve will get tight, overheat, and break off. Changing the o-rngs on the oil cooler is also a necessity that is always ignored -- eventually they leak, and when enough oil gets in there the engine catches of fire on the highway and destroys the car. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Re: [MBZ] Cars kill fish
IMO there are many factors impacting salmon runs. Logging roads were placed adjacent to creeks in order to take advantage of the relatively level runs, multiplying the silting and polluting of the creeks. Loss of creekside vegetation causes warming of the water, which along with the silt and pollution decreases the O2 levels. The defeat of the Canadian gold mining initiative in Alaska is one bright spot in the fight to save the salmon. Greg, who lives near Salmon Creek. > Yes we all thought we knew the answers. I ended up paying him $4500 for it, a pity purchase. (I did NOT want it.) I tried to sell it, with no time pressure (unlike PO), with no luck. My dad finally bought it, for what I'd paid. He loved it, and I was glad to be rid of it. After he passed, nobody wanted to inherit it. I ended up gifting it to our honorary sister. Re: [MBZ] VW Content: Isn't Poos cute?
My first car was a 1951 beetle, deluxe version (aluminum trim and hydraulic brakes. My second car was another '51 VW, standard version with cable operated brakes. I maintained Mom's 1958 Deluxe bus, the one with all the windows. It had the 1200cc engine and she hated it because it was so slow. Dad bought a new 1965 beetle. I later bought a wrecked 1974 or 78 bus with the FI 2000cc engine, repaired it and drove it for several years until I got tired of the cold and my wife never did learn to drive the stick shift. I rebuilt a couple of my engines, which led to a job while in college doing the VW engine work for a local foreign car garage. I now work on and with aircraft air cooled engines. Yes we all thought we knew the answers. But none of them really seemed controllable until this one. E.g. the logging clearcut runoff, or Japanese purse seiners. NOAA finally did a study to learn why the salmon seemed to have crashed and if all the Columbia river and Snake dams were the cause. Same theory with the Rouge river as well. Turned out that the populations were declining because there were too many wild salmon getting caught commercially and the response (normal for intense predation) was for more smaller and younger fish reproducing, creating more small fish, that were easier for sea lions to catch. Re: [MBZ] Cars kill fish
It has more to do with Seattle being a liberal nut zone where panic and hysteria about any manner of perceived threat to wildlife and human activities must be persecuted with Greenpeace level zeal. There was massive outcry a few years ago that people were peeing too much caffeine into Puget Sound and they should close down the Starbucks and tax any form of coffee and sodas. Another crisis was the stormwater run-off sending auto fluid excretions into the water. Not much mention that their sewage system is antiquated and spills fresh feces into rivers, lakes and dumps right into Orca pods. The county is in charge of waste water, so they get a pass on reporting, but citizens are harming the owls and darter snails.
