I have a partially clogged in-tank fuel filter in my 1980 300D. I have
drained the tank (yes, I made a mess and it took a long time to drain a
gallon and a half). I need to know the best way to get the filter out. I

Thank! The plumber's wrench worked great!

and we can compare notes.

Jim,
Knowing the year would be helpful. If this is a W123 (1976 - 1983 - I don't
recall the last year for the 240D), then the following should help.
Engine shutoff problems are generally vacuum related, and may be as simple
as a loose vacuum line. Think back to when the problem started: was

Juan,
Metro Atlanta has lots of yards. At one time, Atlanta had the fourth largest
population of Mercedes in the US.
There are two Pull-A-Part self service yards in Atlanta; one on the south side
(Conley) and one on the west side (Norcross). They charge a dollar admission

Check the comments in the vehicle condition section: sunroof does not work,
A/C does not work, SRS light on, bad seatbelt. Check the pictures; looks

In its normal configuration, the motor is controlled by the servo amp. As
the resistance feedback of the resistor chain changes, the amp begins to

A 9/16 inch hex key should work fine without modification. I used a 9/16
when I was unable to find a 14mm. The 9/16 is ever so slightly larger -- but
works on the differential plug.
Granger has both a 14mm and 9/16 hex key. I was unable to find them at the
local AutoZone.
