As one manual states extend it and collapse it rapidly, with the release
valve in open position. this circulates oil in all the operating areas.

Thanks It does explain the symptoms Seems most likely a leaking vacuum
pod.will check it , mostly behind the centre panel
mak
My guess is that one of the pods has a vacuum leak, and when the
ACC goes to actuate it the vacuum leaks away and the system defaults
to the defrost vent pattern.
Hi all need to know if the compressor control unit next to the fuel relay
controls just the compressor ?.
As the dialled temp of 20 C approaches the centre vents air all gets
diverted to the screen. Should it not go the side vents and then come back
as the temp deviates?
mak

Hi .the model is a 1990 300SE.
The airflow does comes out of the centre vents , then as the dialled in
temp approaches, currently at 20C, the airflow diverts completely to the
windscreen.
The air flow comes back to centre vents if the temp is reduced further say
18'C
mak
PLEASE,
common problem is the black plastic Tee on driver's fender cracks and the
climate control goes to defrost all the time.

For alignment the front wheels need to be kept apart with a bar set at
100 NM . and only then the toe- in is set correctly .
This is the suspension under running conditon stress.
few shops would do that
mak
. This way I will not have to worry about the
front end for another 50-60k
Another good one is the Mercedes Technical Companion
available from Bentley publisher's.
The diy section has good repair's of common faults including the Becker
radio repair section.
I have both the manuals and would be a little more inclined on this one .

Hi. One of the causes for hard start, warm or hot is a failing fuel
accumulator, so along with a fuel filter change should be good proactive
maintainance

The original tensioner arms and idlers used on '84-'85 OM60x engines
seldom lasted more than 50-75kmi. The later ones seemed good for
75-150kmi. By the '90s they may still be better (the aftermarket
Hi! At what mileage did you have to change this.? just like to know what
is the life of a belt tensioner and other idler pulley's associated with it

hi
when does the compressor on the climate control type start cycling .to me
it seems to be on all the time even around 26C or so and the air turns
warmish.
also as the dialled in temp approaches it directs most air from centre
vents to the windscreen .is that normal?
mak
Hi Any idea how long the water pump lasted on the 103 engine? mileage or
age period.

Hi All
i have replaced the front suspension bushes and all the other joints etc on
the front suspension plus the four new boge shocks. suspension nuts
torqued on the ground position
the ride seems overly firm as if the tyres are over inflated, every little
road bump is firmly dealt and felt .
Recently I replaced all four shocks on 300Se ; the car stands higher as
compared to before 20mm or so The ride is taut and firm now as compard to
the softy feel before,

I wonder what is the efficacy of the oil filter coolers , the type that
slips on the oil cooler, seems like a very small finned heat sink
Any one using it?
