Normally a 722.6 conductor plate puts you in limp mode, which gives you
Park, Neutral, Reverse, and 2nd gear. I'm assuming the 7sp in that 2006 is
similar, but that's just an assumption.

This sounds like it's more messed up than that, but likely electronic
unless it's totally out of fluid.

Like Rich said, plug in a scanner that reads transmission codes and go
from there.

My 2.5 turbo was totaled when I bought it.
My 'conversion kit' was an entire 201.034 with a 'noisy differential' that
turned out to be a 'noisy dogleg Getrag'. Also disclosed was the fact that
the rear suspension was blown (had to replace spheres and control valve).

I paid either $2200 or $2250 for it. Would have been a bargain if the
transmission hadn't needed rebuilding.

I've only done 3/4 ton singles. You have more outdoor units, but they're
small and quiet. No problems with minimum BTUs being too high when you
only need to run one indoor unit at low speed. If there's a failure, all
the other units still work. And I don't recall a three ton with four
cassettes being any cheaper than four 3/4 tons. Biggest advantage to a
multi split that I can think of offhand is you only need one circuit
breaker to power it.

It hasn't wanted to boot up for the last ten years or so, but I have a
Zenith Minisport HD with a 2 or 2.5" 20 Meg hard drive. Before that, I had
a Minisport with the 2" floppy drive in it. That was interesting. I think
I paid $30-40 for a ten pack of floppies. Bought it new for $400, sold it
in perfect condition for $200 when I bought the one with a hard drive and
an external 3.5" drive. IIRC the 2" floppies were 720kb, just like the low
density 3.5" were. There were also 8" floppies. I have one and only one
somewhere, I can't even remember what computer I was using that I had to
store my homework on 8". Maybe it was the CDC Cyber 200.

to get well fitted spectacles. I assume yours came from a decent optician
who fitted them in person.

So far all I've gotten from those sources is single visionreading glasses,

When I finally let my doc write me for bifocals, I had him write 3 scripts
for single vision, bifocals and reading glasses. Bought the single vision
and two pair of internet readers. Biggest problem was in walking out of
the office with reading glasses on and leaving my only pair of good
glasses at work, when I didn't have a key to get back in.

Now I mostly wear the bifocals, but during tax season I keep the single
vision glasses in the car and a pair of readers in the desk. When I start
work at 8am, I'm usually ready to switch to dedicated readers by 1pm, but
a couple times this past winter I made it through a whole day on the
bifocals.

It might have been more fun if the 240D were manual, but this way you can
just build a 300D in a 240D donor body. Every part you need should be on
the 300D. I might be wrong, but I think the 240D auto is mechanically the
same, might have lower hydraulic pressures. 240D box with the valve body
from the dead 300D box might be an option.

You'll probably want to use a 300D differential.

I forget, is 1983 the last year for cheap license plates or the first year
for expensive plates?

I get 18-20mpg in local rural driving, my best ever fill was driving to
Grand Rapids last year to pick up a clothes washer, 20.6mpg.
Driving to Cleveland and back with the tow dolly to pick up a car the week
after I bought the ML, I got about 19.5 with the cruise set at 65mph.

W163 is rated at 5000lb by MBUSA, I don't know what the international
rating is.
Curt's hitch is rated conservatively at 3500lb.
Draw-tite's hitch is rated at 5000lb.
There doesn't seem to be any difference in the hitches, the Draw-tite
comes with a couple of angle brackets which you're supposed to bolt to the
rear crossmember and the longitudinal frame rails of the truck.
AFAIK the 5000lb factory tow package doesn't have those frame
reinforcements, but I could be wrong about that.

I bought a Curt, and don't worry about hauling a 3000lb car on a 400lb
dolly with no brakes.

An 18' 7000lb trailer probably weighs 1800-2000lb.
Add a 4000lb car and you're getting up there in weight.
A 4800lb ML is kinda short wheelbase for a tow vehicle. I'd get a bit
worried when the trailer starts to outweigh it.

Any brake controller worth installing will have an inertia sensor and
proportion the trailer brake force based on how hard the driver is
braking.

Now that the United Kingdom has relaxed its social distancing rules,
thousands of punters have been throwing caution into the wind, and
visiting beaches to make the most of the good weather.

While there might be plenty of room on the beach, parking quickly becomes
an issue on a nice day, and one Mercedes-Benz driver decided to use a
nearby paddock.

Unfortunately for this driver, the farmer that owns the paddock in
Cornwall is obviously sick of people using his property, and decides to
get some revenge by spraying the C-Class with manure from his fertilizer
spreader.

“'I've nearly finished mate, I'm not stopping. I hope you have as much fun
washing your car as I am going to have painting it for you,” the farmer
jokes as he films the black car turning brown.

I'd bet our tax dollars are paying for the patient care, not the death
certificate, and the death certificate doesn't change the payment.

I'd also guess in most cases, the death certificate doesn't determine
whether it's statistically tabulated as a WhuFlu death.

Old ladies getting dizzy get delayed in the best of times.
Her first big dizzy spell was in June. She fainted in my arms in
September. I'm just glad I happened to be standing behind her when that
happened. She finally met the brain guy a week before Christmas. Got the
biopsy done a week before the Super Bowl. Spent Super Bowl weekend in the
hospital when she took a downturn right before the lab dealt with the
biopsy. Treatment began around the first of February, in the form of a
chemo agent with anti-inflammatory side effects.

Today, I suspect we'd get nowhere until she passed out and rode an
ambulance in September, then they'd start running the tests that got run
in July and August, unless Arteritis is much farther up the list of things
to check than it used to be. I ended up believing that Arteritis is so
rare because more people die from it than are diagnosed with it.

I used to want an on-premises commercial Speed Queen. (laundromat quality
but no coin box)
Back in 2002 a front loader was about $1400.

I ended up getting Mom a high efficiency Fisher and Paykel top loader
instead. Spiritual ancestor to the Whirlpool Calypso.
No belts or gearbox. Just a high efficiency motor, pump and a bunch of
valves. Only real problem is when the pump motor dies it pulls too much
current and fries the circuit board. Solution to that was an inline fuse
on the pump motor. Parts were cheap, repairs were easy.
But now the parts are expensive. A $35 pump is now $140.

So eventually I'll have to find a new favorite washer. What'll be hard to
replace are the top loading dryers that came with them. Nothing is as fast
or easy as pulling wet stuff out of the top of the washer and dumping it
in the top of the dryer.

Friend of mine runs distilled water in the coffee maker.
Keurig doesn't get crudded up.

Also, distilled water apparently has less dissolved air in it, makes clear
ice cubes.

9 weeks after they locked down medical services, I'm more concerned with
those whose conditions are worsening or even dying due to the inability to
get nonemergency health care.

Example One: The local hospital's rehab center has been 100% shuttered for
nine weeks now. Taking away my 87 year old father's pulmonary rehab has
not helped him any.

Example Two: My mom nearly died from Giant Cell Arteritis ten years ago,
it was quite the race to get it diagnosed/treated before she went blind or
toes up. As our retired family physician said when she told him about it
later: "Arteritis! That's the last thing you check for!" To which Mom
replied in her deadpan way: "I noticed".
In the current environment, zero chance of success.
Can't get a face to face doctor's appointment, only 'phone examinations'.
Can't see the brain specialist who finally ordered the biopsy.
Can't do scheduled surgeries, like biopsies of arteries in your head.

Several years ago, believing that 100W bulbs were being banned, I stocked
up on them. I use them in shop lights, where I frequently break bulbs.
But it seems like I've seen them on sale recently.

I went pretty strong on the CFL bandwagon about 15 years ago.
The number of 5000 hour bulbs that I replaced starting about a year later
was quite prodigious.

Then five years ago, Philips LEDs became as cheap as CFLs of a decade
before. I bought a bunch, and started swapping out the CFLs.
I have yet to have a LED fail.

The Philips soft white are rather yellow, I believe 2700K.
The daylight are somewhat blue and harsh at 5000k.
I wish they were more like 3200-4300k. The 4300K bulbs in my S420 are
about as blue as I'd want.
With the Philips, I've been using soft white in open bulb fixtures, like
in the  basement. If the bulb is covered, the 5000K daylight are OK.

A friend and I crunched the numbers the other night.
A typical CA month has 4000 suicides.
WhuFlu CA deaths clearly less than that.

My first car (9 year old 1975 Honda) had belts that wouldn't retract and
didn't like to extend.
I took the reels apart as far as was reasonable, cleaned years worth of
grime out of them, cleaned and freed up the swinging inertia weights, and
they worked like new. I think the main problem with extending the belts
was the weights not hanging straight down in the center at rest. I assume
a W210 has an entirely different design, but gummed up and sticky can
probably apply to any belt reel.

Might be location dependent, but the four I've been to had a gate on the
front entrance, a gate on the yard, and a scattering of wrecks on the far
side of the parking lot in between the gates waiting for pickup.

When I had my busted radiator ML delivered (I used my repaired ML to pick
up subsequent purchases) the driver showed up mid evening, told me there
was a keypad at the gate so it didn't matter if he got there after five as
long as I'd already had it moved out of the back yard for him.

A week ago, the fuel pump(s) quit pumping, while drawing prodigious
current, judging from the size of the spark when I jump the relay.
Does anybody know if it has one or two pumps, and if two, are they the
same part number?

Yeah, I know, raise the car, crawl under, and remove the cover.
Unfortunately, I was warming it up in the grass behind the cottage where
the ground is a little soft for jacking a car up when the pump died. It
died like I'd turned off the ignition.

That's why my first and only mortgage is a HELOC.
Interest rates were at zero for 8 years running (but expected to go up the
next month if I'd paid attention) and the HELOC was fee free, except for a
$60 annual fee that lowered my interest rate 1/4%.
It worked out pretty good.
My income is seasonal, so I deposit my paychecks right into the HELOC all
winter, and draw on it in the summer and fall. That's something I wouldn't
be able to do with a regular mortgage.

I rarely do 'smart phone' stuff on my phones aside from maps and gasbuddy,
I've got computers to do computer stuff on.
And I don't talk on the phone a lot, maybe an hour a week.

So the iPhone SE needs charging on even numbered days, the small android
gets charged every weekend, and the big android (4 amp hour battery) that
I parked my home phone number on gets charged every 2 weeks, or 3 weeks if
I don't remember to unplug it at 70-80% charge.

I don't know how common Shalin is, but everybody who knows specialists
around here knows at least one Shah. My parents have had a couple.

I went to college with a foreigner named Mandrake Shah. His brother lived
in the US, told him to call himself Manny when he went to WMU. It pissed
him off, because his name was Mandrake and he wasn't ashamed of it. I told
him his brother was an idiot, if he wanted to Americanize his name he
should go by Drake. I assume he's still here, I can't think of many good
reasons to get a degree in Accountancy from a US University unless you
want to work in the US.

Windows: double.
Two double pane windows, one on the outside of the wall and one on the
inside. Awesome insulation and very good sound attenuation.

Walls: acoustic insulation.
Sprayed in place foam preferred, blown in cellulose good enough.
For bonus points in new construction, make a 6" wall with staggered 2x4s,
so that the exterior sheathing and interior drywall aren't attached to the
same hunk of wood.

That Wisconsin sheriff thing that started with a 16 y-o girl hospitalized
after a spring break Florida trip, she was diagnosed as Chinese SARS but

hospitalized with COVID-19 symptoms, quarantine recommended.

If she had died, would you tally her as a Chinese Flu death or not?

Plexiglas = acrylic, so yeah, that's not stopping UV, but UV can make it
yellow and weak. IIRC it also shatters into sharp shards.
Not what I'd choose for a canopy.

Lexan = polycarbonate = more better.
PC eyeglass lenses are considered UV blocking. They're strong, moderately
high index, and block UV. The biggest argument against PC is it induces
chromatic aberration when you aren't looking through the center of the
lens.

The Saab indy I worked for in the 1980s was also an irrigation installer.
Everything was black poly. And if tree roots ever broke it, I never heard
about it. I don't know why anybody would pay more for rigid PVC with
joints every 10', that does not sound at all like a professional
installation.
With the poly, you just put a pulling blade on the ditch witch, dragged
the pipe underground, and dug it up a bit where you needed to install the
sprinkler heads.
