Fuel leak: I'll bet the leak is the bigger clear plastic line off the back of
the IP, which is discharge from the lift pump that goes to the big fuel filter.
Those lines age, turn yellow, get brittle. If it got any pressure, it probably
cracked. I'd say pull the manifold, as painful as

Gentle pressure on the stop lever is fine, but I wouldn't get too aggressive.
Inside the injection pump, the stop lever moves the fuel rack. The fuel rack
is connected to the plunger / barrel assemblies at one end, and the governor at
the other end.

Hope you are all doing well!
My eldest has fixed the freeze plug using a pair of cold chisels and a
bit of steel pipe on the 300SDL's 603, so now we need to button up the
engine. However:
1) the intake manifold has been off for a long time (5 years?) and
probably had water, dirt, bugs
