So where is this oil separator? I want to check it out and see what's
goin' on with it. Do the NA cars have the baffle inside the valve
cover
too?
Would have thought so. The separator should be inside the air
cleaner housing, in the center. The giveaway is if there's an
oil drain tube
I had the air cleaner housing off the car during the valve adjustment to
clean it up. I didn't see an oil drain tube. I hope that there's a
chance that the new owner can keep her on the road for a long time.

I NEVER thought that I would end up with a car that has this problem, but
old Granny has decided to spring it on me! She won't shut off with the key,

I haven't changed the oil filter in a while. That's the first place I
checked, and it was still connected there. If the shutoff valve checks out
OK, I'm going to check every line to see if they're all seated tightly in
their fittings and how good they are. I anticipate finding something

I have a 1980 300CD which initially had serious problems with excessive blow-by
and associated oil consumption.
The prescription: Diesel purge, regular Italian tune-ups and drive it like yer
pants are on fire and yer ass is catchin'.
The blow-by is quite likely due to rings which are crapped up
