Shoot the door hardware off with high powered ammunition that you keep on hand.
The door will collapse and you can drag it out of the way in pieces.

No bad, Mitch’s buddy’s situation may have been a post storm thing. My thought
process was if the roof got ripped off the house how I would make a quick
getaway in the event the garage door was compromised.

I’ve assembled and dismantled overhead doors, they’re amazingly simple to do,

Unbolt the rollers from the track, and the hinge bolts along the contact at
each section. Start at the top section, Do the hinge bolts first, remove
the line of hinges, then release the rollers.. should be two nuts on each
hinge and two bolts on each roller at the end of the door section.

I was sort of worried about that myself. I figured I would roll the dice and
hope that the door wasn't damaged. I have a hurricane rated garage door so
wasn't worried about that, but if the structure was damaged I wouldn't be able
to open it.
That's why I parked the MIL's Buick with the nose
Buddy of mine in Winter Haven has power out and the garage doors
sufficiently mauled by the 100mph winds that he can't open 'em to run his

I just checked with a buddy who is at the NOAA station in Ruskin (Tampa’s

Villages (Lakeland, Polk County) got the worst of the high winds in the area,

Where that WaPo plot ends near Tampa, it seems to be moving NNW towards Crystal

Sort of. Being near the edge of the red Hurricane zone implies that Lady Lake

I wonder if Travolta moved his Boeing out of state for the weekend?
Wouldn't be good to get up in the morning and find an upside down 707 in your

I can find 'we think it's going here in the next couple of days' plots all over
the place, but not 'it went exactly here' plots.

You are really living right. Our power went out around 10:30 last

Yeah, that’s not my mayor (I live in unincorporated Hillsborough County, not

Glad you guys fared well. I watched a phone interview with your mayor last
night. He sounded pretty confident that the city was prepared for the worst the
storm could dish out. You personally were prepared well too.
We can all take a lesson from that.
Again, I am grateful you guys are okay.
Yeah, I think you can take the “mostly” out of that. We escaped it, for sure.
I’ve seen more damage around my neighborhood from strong summer thunderstorms.
Thank you.
