A buddy of mine in college had an old egg-shaped Volvo he and his dad
did that to, it was a great car. I don't think they had more than a
coupla hundred bucks in it, if that.

My salvage guy gave me a copy of the form you need to send in
Nope. We built a VW van from two wrecked ones - cut the front clip off a
good one and welded it onto the other that was smashed in front. Took it to
the tag agent who looked at it, thought it looked good and titled it - I
don't remember what the title said specifically. Got liability insurance
I don't think so.
You might be confusing this with a rebuilt title.
Some states require that a car with a salvage title be inspected and it's
roadworthiness be attested to by a state or licensed inspector. Then it gets a
"rebuilt" or "reconstructed" title. Other states don't make the
We had a local dealer selling his cars advertised as "Deeply Discounted"
because of Hail Damage. The advertisement said many of the cars had
damage only detectable by a professional. I guess they weren't bad
enough to warrant Salvage Titles? I especially like it when I see a
advertisement
Is it true that in most states you cannot insure a car with a salvage title?

My insurer told me they no longer insure cars with salvage or rebuilt titles.
I asked if that was just related to collision coverage and they said, no, it's
across the board.
It's Allstate if anyone was wondering.
A good question to ask your insurer

Yes, it's an incredible waste that they put a scrap title on a perfectly usable
car with merely hail damage. There was a 2013 Malibu
Oh, I see, you're asking about the title (or lack thereof).

Condition is listed as Hail Damaged.
Which means dented all over, but needing no repair if you can live
So whats the deal with buying from copart? Can you bid online? Does it
cost anything?
