That doesn't really mean anything - in a four speed, L would be first

Just depends on when I get to the PnP in relation to when the car gets

How about a first person report on the teal blue 79 Euro SL C? That could
be a good deal if it has a decent drive train and minimal rust. I could
live w/o the ugly air dam, however.

There are many ethnic varieties using the PnP, just the mexican and
some orientals are more prone to destroying the cars due to lack of
adequate tooling. The white folks and others have a grasp on the value
of parts and will try to get the part they want out intact, and leave
other parts

IMO worth the price. This is not a perfect example, but a true euro

Ed, there is no accounting for your lack of tool use!
I am just stating that based on the preponderance of behavior at the
PnP sorted by amount of melanin, the tanner the flesh and amount of

IIRC, the 914 uses a Porsche transaxle, but the bellhousings, like
most rear/mid-engine Porsche units will match up with all the VW
horizontally opposed engines. So, any engine swap kit designed for a
VW transaxle should work with a Porsche unit as well.
A 914/tdi combo would be pretty enticing.
