Thanks Curley, My problem was seeing the hose I needed to apply vacuum to.  It just looks like a bundle of hoses and wires under the intake manifold.  I recall replacing it on my W123 240D which was a piece of cake.  This is a whole different animal! Thanks for the info though! LarryT 91 300D

Actually you don't even need a Mityvac. If you have good lungs, you can hook a 3' piece of vacuum hose to the newly installed shutoff and suck on it. It is easier to see straight while you hold vacuum if you use a Mityvac. ;<) Larry Turner via Mercedes

As I recall, the "screws" are t30 torx head. You can also remove the side cover on the IP to watch the rack movement to be positive the new shutoff moves the rack to "OFF" with vacuum from the Mity-vac. Peter Frederick via Mercedes August 26, 2017 at 9:06 AM

Thanks Peter -     Yeah, you're right - I need to have it done and be rid of it.   My height makes leaning over the fender or rad to reach the valve stretches the backs of my legs which won't work as I am now configured. :-)     Thanks for the quick reply.  Having to confirm it is installed

It's fairly easy, but rather fiddly, and I'd not do it with a knee replacement acting up, you need to spend quite a git of time leaning over the I". You will have to remove the boost control can from the IP, which is the fiddly part -- unscrew the captive nut and the bottom and fiddle around
