No, the screen in a wagon or the older models (with bottom drain) is not attached to a hose. Just unscrew the plug and the screen comes out with it. Simple. The fuel pickup is inside the tank and it stays put. These all have the tank between the frame rails ahead of the bumper. 123, 126

OK start at the other end and follow the fuel line back from the engine to the tank. At some point there will be a rubber hose attached to the hard fuel line, which will then go into the tank via a fitting at the bottom of the strainer filter. Or as someone mentioned, take the return line

The 123 wagon tank is analogous to the underbody fuel tank in the 110, 111, 112, 108, 114 and 115 tanks, (pre-1977 or so) Drain is a large female hex in the middle of the bottom side of the tank. The screen is inside the drain plug. All three fuel lines go into the tank, and the inlet

So now I am worried. I thought all I had to do was unscrew the coarse screen filter with my 22mm hex tool (allen) but it appears the end of the filter that is inside the tank will be attached to some sort of fuel hose that i will need to disconnect in order to R/R the filter. Or maybe not. On

I did it on the 126 a few months back (did not need to, but how could I know?). There is a fuel line that screws into the filter, I put a wrench on that (much smaller) fitting and the screen filter turned right out. Of course it was then a bugger to get the fuel line fitting out of the
