How much do they charge for those, in US$?
It would likely be the easiest way to do an SLS 190D without
having the proper euro head.
$125 and it looked like it was brand new!! Potmac is awesome!

Wow, I thought I got a bargain when I got a control valve for
$50 from a guy who performed SLSectomy on his 16V. For $125,
I wouldn't dream of trying to modify a non-sls head to take
my 16V pump. Ron Dwelle's euro

I'm surprised that none of you rocket scientists have rigged an
electro-hydraulic unit to work with SLS cars

Somebody has, it was a convertible top pump from, IIRC, a GM car.
I was thinking that if I ran the pump a bit at startup, the
car would slowly drop

Unlike the tandem leveling/power steering pumps used in the 124 TDs, the
pumps used on all of the 123 TDs
AHA!! SUCCESS!!
I had replaced the nitrogen cells and had a worse suspension than before
the replacement. My mechanic diagnosed it as a bad pump and had trouble
finding one.
I located a tandem pump at Potomac German and had it shipped here

Jeff,
The pump is rebuildable. If you need a rebuild, call Rusty with you VIN,
and the manufacturer from the plate on the side of the pump, and Rusty will
get a kit to you. Both of mine are Vickers, but 2 different kind of
pumps. I would guess you could crack the high pressure line at the
The only pump I see a rebuild kit for is the PS pump WITHOUT self

Am I missing something??

Call Rusty! Yes, you are missing something!

You will need to load it up pretty good for bleed it without opening
the lines -- two husky guys on the tailgate with the engine running

However, if you are low on fluid, it will get full of air and bounce --
check the fluid level and fill if necessary. You
Actually the system is pretty much self bleeding. It will have air in
it at first but will bleed out rather quickly on its own.

Theree is plenty of oil and the system has had its new accumlators for
over a week now and now self-bleeding has taken place. When I took it
apart there was plenty of pressure and I got a nice hydraulic oil bath
for my efforts!

I say that about the 16v because the pump sends oil to the valve,
which comes back up the return

Unless the arm to the valve is loose (or something else is broken),
usually the system will bleed out after 25-50 miles of driving even if

Is it possible I've introduced air into the system? It also rides much

Let's hope so. The other obvious cause would be the bad cells hammered
