Kaleb, I realized I left out the assumption per your email that you would do a fresh install on the new SSD drive of Win 10 Pro. That way when you move the apps, etc. from the old drive to the SSD all should be well. Check to be sure PCMover will go from Win7 to Win10. It's been a few years

Kaleb, Have you run a search for logs? There is a log folder under Windows. It normally only holds "update" logs, but check anyway. Also, did you go to your PC maker and get the latest BIOS? I still think it's something simple which is being masked by the final error message. Did you get

On mine I disabled that pci card in device manager that said it needed a driver. I’m doing the install again right now and it appears to actually install windows 10, because it boots into it then downloads updates. It’s currently at 13% on updates. Will see if it works this time or not. I am

Apple is downward spiraling all together, they're making products to sell more products rather than "thinking different". They're removal of useful ports that they pioneered just a couple years before is very telling. I consider removal of the SD card slot to be a crime against humanity. -Curt

I was going to say "we don't support video editing from a VM" but actually we do. Go price an nVidia Tesla v100, I'll wait... Now you see why I don't care to edit video from a VM. ;) Plus you need a thin client and theres an AV offset you have to compensate for, its kind of a pain. Really cool

If I didn't have specialty applications to support I'd run Ubuntu Linux. Its stable, easy to use, easy to install and comes with a bunch of productivity stuff built right in. Kaleb needs to back up his data and reinstall Windows from fresh media. I NEVER upgrade an OS if I can help it. All

Try this, if you have a spare hard drive so you can keep the old and not lose your data. Download the clean installation from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows10 Install a clean version, and when you connect to internet and it asks for the key, use your Win7 key.

So I'm finally left alone at home with enough time to try the upgrade. Plan is to install a bigger faster SSD, then try to upgrade from Win 7 Pro to Win 10. I have the Pro key, but only have installation media (and the key) for Win 7 Home. Let's see if I can make this work Max Dillon

Kaleb, Much like problem determination on a car, you need to provide more than "it failed for some reason". Was it hardware, too little disk space, bad Win7 product id, etc. You have until Jan. 14 to upgrade using the free upgrade with a valid Win7 product ID. Best Wishes, Roger Roger Hale
