If you ever have the system open for service, you should replace ALL
the o-rings. This is mandatory if you switch to 134a, as the older
ones usually go pretty fast.
Another steath leak is the o-rings that seal the piping manifold to
the compressor -- the high side ones erode and start to
I am so happy I have Gump! She looks real close to that from the
factory, just add dash. I am sure the 126 will look the same when I
get done

I would be doing the two step all day if the cars would come out. The
few that do come out are attacked by ravenous hordes and stripped clean
in minutes. Lack of other cars to pay attention to has all 60 of the

ACtually, it's inside the heater box up against the firewall. You must
remove console, radio, ACC pushbutton unit, lower dash panels, dash
top, (AC vents first), steering wheel, cluster, and ignition switch
holder and support bar. Quite a job, I DEFINITELY recommend the manual

Hu -- that's reminiscent of replacing the heater fan in a 115

I will proceed to hunt that down. The forklift fellow at the PnP is
out after shoulder surgery and the idiots there are no longer putting
fresh meat out. The pen is getting pretty close to being double

Dude, you got it bad! You're ready for a twelve step program.

Wow, and I thought doing a Volvo 240 heater blower was a pain...
There is a 280SE euro in the PnP lot. Stripped inside, but much of the
engine compartment is still intact. Where do I look for this

stripper had not screwed with the headlight aimers. Left the vac hose

and if he has a title for it.
I'm thinking maybe it's one of the flooded Katrina cars - just a guess.
Something is goofy with it.

How involved and expensive is that repair?

About like a radiator replacement, except that you need AC servicing
tools like a vacuum pump and gauges.

Let me play devil's advocate and postulate that it's really the evaporator
that needs replaced. Is that much harder to get at?
Thanks

Yes!!! You have to tear out the whole dash, a 10-hour-plus job! (The only

Now that puts it in perspective! You aren't going to pull the
evaporator out the speaker hole either!

sometimes even with a filter installed. May be a simple compressor
