No, have not checked that but I will. The coolant temp is just fine though.
The compressor is not stiff, the old one was though.

Replace it, it's shot. It's a thermistor, and I haven't found a way
to get the clip apart to solder in a cheap one.

Yup. It has too much resistance, telling the PBCU that the
evaporator is too cold, so it switches off the compressor.
Leaving it jumpered (so that the PBCU thinks it's very hot) will
freeze the evaporator up.

another car I guess. Think im going to drive it to work tomorrow so it
wont be running that long with it jumpered. I suppose its also possible
the wiring has resistance in it because the rats did chew completely
thru that wire

I was attacking the pin from the top as illustrated in WIS. Mercedes
has a special tool. That did not get me very far seeing as how I don't
have the tool. Pounding from below with a pry bar pointy end at the
bottom of the pin and an 8 pound sledge did the trick. The pin has
longitudinal striations
We emailed back and forth a few times today. When I asked him why he
pulled the head, he stopped replying. Something is up.

Your compressor is seized. I've actually un-seized one,
on the 190D. But it has a belt-saver Klima that worked
to prevent system damage.

My '82 300CD was purchased cheap because the dealer had condemned the
transmission to a rebuild. When the transmission was partially warmed up (or
hot) it would slip out of first and second gears when under anything more than
half throttle. They had changed the fluid and added Lucas No-Slip, but
