Tom Clancy's last few books were almost prescient. Not a fan of the current chinese goobermnt, but it is better than mao. I like most of the Chinese people I have met. Given a choice between bowing to the east and under the chicom thumb, I'd choose the thumb. All the haoles in China I know of are quite happy. The Chinese I know here, are VERY happy to be here, not in China. The Chinese have lived in civilized society for thousands of years unlike desert inhabitants. I can understand the neighbors being nervous, but what we need here is someone with qualities like Churchill, or our own TR in the first term, or Reagan. A man who won't bow or cowtow to tin pot dictators like the current (i vote present) resident who does not understand there is supposed to be a big P at the beginning of his title. Re: [MBZ] Check this out
So one of the 787 factories is at the local aerodrome, CHS, I was up there last weekend and there were 5 or 6 new planes sitting out by the big factory hangar waiting for delivery. They are also expanding the factory (its only 2-3yo now) to build the -10 variant. There were 4 of the fat 747 "Dreamlifters" sitting on the ramp that they use to haul fuselage sections back and forth across the country to Seattle, not sure if they are made here then sent there or vice versa, but it kinda cool seeing those things flying around. I have seen some of the 787s flying around too, they are quite pretty in flight, but never any performance flying. Maybe we should get them to do an airshow here and show off that kind of flying? CHS is also an Air Force base, a whole herd of C-17s is based here, those things are huge. A lot of time they fly over my estancia on their way back from the Lands of Sand, sometimes 3 or 4 together. --R On 6/12/15 1:56 AM, G Mann via Mercedes wrote: Zero passengers, zero cargo, Minimum fuel load, and a max preformance takeoff, in a new airplane with the companys blessing.. I was thinking that the 787 I was on the other day took off kind of steeply, or steeper than the smaller regional jets (737 or A320) I usually fly on but nothing like that! -Curt From: Kaleb C. I would guess the floor to be plywood and maybe just soft as opposed to missing. I have a travel trailer with that problem. It indicates something worse in most cases. Water is getting in from higher up. sometimes difficult to tell where and how much damage has been inflicted. The vibration at idle must be horrendous! Is this a medium-speed diesel, like in big trucks, instead of a high-speed diesel like in cars?

Re: [MBZ] check this out
That is amazing. The engine that powers my 3500 lb. or so sedan somewhat satifactorily (though if I ever really needed to get out of the way of something fast, I'd be in trouble) is used to try to move a motor home. It must have a really low first and second gear. My little 240 is nice and zippy really, but I'm reminded of the first time I got in it and tried to pull it out of the yard it was being stored in. It literally could not move itself from its resting spot without stalling. I felt sort of disappointed with my purchase. Granted, that engine had problems, and the tires were low, and were in a bit of a rut. And I wonder if that engine was equipped with some sort of California emissions. Re: [MBZ] Check this out (MBZ-powered motorhome)
The 240 engine is not the only 4-cyl MBZ made. There was a 4 cyl, 5-liter (!) NA diesel truck engine used in Mercedes airport-shuttle-type busses. A friend of mine has a 309 converted to a motorhome (it was mentioned on this list for sale, I passed the info on to him, and about a year ago he bought it) and my brother, a diesel mechanic, has driven one also. Both report lots of torque and very satisfactory around-town performance. My friend got high teens for mileage with his--even as high as 20 mpg on some tanks. They're really lugging engines, though, meant for slow-speed delivery or hauling, not highway cruising. I'd rather have that mill in a motor home any day than a LeSharo 2.2D, which was a small, light-duty diesel that would actually stall out in first gear on steep mountain grades.
