My brother swears by Buicks, with the correct engine. Bulletproof,
parts readily available, can be serviced everywhere and by anyone.

But, they're GM.

And new headgaskets every 100,000 miles or so. Subaru apologists bury that

There ought be a lot of those in Flahdah, all the geezers down there.

My MIL had one that when she got too old to drive I suggested she give it to
her daughter (my SIL) for her boys to drive. I think 2 or 3 of them drove it
for a few years until it got “too old” (they don’t no nuffin bout cars) so they
gave it away to some charity outfit. It was rough but still seemed to be

miles they wanted $1500 for. Another was a 04 Impala with the 3.4 v6 has 200k
miles for $1k. Both of those looked pretty decent to me. She keeps sending me
these Chevy HHRs for $2500 or so and a 03 Subaru Outback with 3.0 awd wagon for
$2500. No mention of how many miles are on it. I guess she can figure it out if
that’s what she wants. I’m still not sure what is wrong with the car he already

Re: [MBZ] Finding a car for kid

2020-03-01 Thread Rick Knoble via Mercedes
Corolla or a Camry. Any year Camry with the four banger. 2003 or newer Corolla.
A '96 or '97 Corolla would be fine. The 1999-2002 Corolla have oil ring issues,
and if the oil level is not checked often, the engine is toast. Honda
automatics suck. Domestic cars, Ford Crown Vic and Mercury Marquis are
reliable. They had issues with the intake coolant leak on certain years. A GM
with the 3800 is a good choice also, but the rest of the car may be $h*t.

An old man or old lady owned Camry or Crown Vic would be my first choice.

I would NOT put him in a W210. Too many potential issues for an unmaintained
car.

You asked.

Rick
