When oil got down around $68 or something, some local stations were in a
minor price war, with Costo or slightly lower than Costco prices on
Shell and Sunoco.
Around Christmas and New Years I was buying gas for $2.80 with my Shell
Fuel rewards (5 cents off).

Alas, crude prices that were in the 80s at the beginning of November and
60s through most of December are back in the 80s, and $3.20 is a good
deal on 87 octane E10.
At least I managed to fill the ML and the Saturn at 2.949 on MLK day
before prices jumped to 3.299.

Re: [MBZ] Fuel prices

2020-12-31 Thread Floyd Thursby via Mercedes
Costco reg was like $1.84 last week, premium was $2.23 if I recall.
Diesel is lile $2.25

It's winter so heating oil is pushing down diesel production, and barrel
prices have been creeping up lately, but I'm sure in 3 weeks when the
new era of peace and prosperity starts we will see it go down again.

Prices on the coast have jumped up 40¢ in the past month. Driving 1000

Dissel from 2.699 to 3.049 or more. (some places I didn't even take
notice when the first digit was 3!)

"the economy has heated up" thus the prices of energy are raised. I
have not heard what the supply is. The usual bs line is, "refineries

Petro has been bouncing around from 2.30-2.80 recently, add .50-.60 for premium.
Currently $2.65 for 87 octane, on the way down from the spike to 2.80 last
week.

Diesel is $3.15, up from $2.95 at the beginning of the month. Not as volatile

We've been sitting right around $3.00/gal, I paid $2.99 the other day but with
it snowing a little today I suspect it'll be back up tomorrow. If winter would
finally quit the price would come down here but a lot of people here heat with
oil and haven't shut off their furnace for the summer.I've used more wood in
April than I did in February...

Dissel went form 1.39 to 2.39-245 over the past 5-6 months.

Crude went from 26 to 40ish, so some price changes are to be expected.
However, as usual, when the crude closes, up, the price of fuel at the
pump jumps immediately. when crude closes down, nothing happens until
long after the lower priced fuel has been delivered to the pumps. We
saw jumps up of 20-30¢ at a time. it goes down a couple pennies at a time.

Right now, about 2.25 for both E10 benzin and Dissel.

Y'all in Canada are always getting ripped. Y'all have all that oil
shale, but don't seem to see benefits at the pump.

Diesel prices have plunged to close to standard unleaded. If I had a
compression engine benz, I would be driving all over the place

Re: [MBZ] Fuel Prices, was: We should sell our 123s in Deutschland

2016-02-27 Thread G Mann via Mercedes

Dear Grant,

This week marks an important anniversary.

Exactly four years ago, President Obama proclaimed, “we can’t just drill
our way to lower gas prices.”

*But it turns out that once again, President Obama was on the wrong side of
history.*

In 2012, gasoline was $3.72 per gallon. *Today, it is only $1.73 a gallon.*

So yes, Obama was wrong; we can dill our way to lower gas prices.

What’s changed is a massive increase in world oil production—almost all of
which came from the United States!

*And major technological advancements such as hydraulic fracturing and
horizontal drilling are to thank.*

This is great news for all Americans, but *especially for those living in
low-income households who no longer have to choose between filling up their
gas tanks and paying for other daily essentials.*

The unfortunate news is that American’s could actually be saving a lot more
if the Obama administration would open up federal lands to oil and gas
leasing.

*But instead, Obama would rather propose a new $10 tax on oil, which will
raise gas prices by 24 cents a gallon.*

Much has changed in the last four years, as American energy producers have
consistently innovated and reduced costs for families and motorists.

And in spite of President Obama’s previous claims and restrictive policies,
increased energy production has provided hard-working Americans with lower
gas prices.

Just imagine what we could do if the next administration simply let
Americans get back to work?

To read more, *check out our blog post in AEA’s Energy Townhall.*

Sincerely,

Tom Pyle,
President

See! There is a whole list of good things the current administration
has done! Well, at least current and past members of the obammer
regime did not commit heinous crimes like nixon did! Nixon erased
several seconds of sound recordings he made privately for his own

O Andrew... The "good stuff" list.. OK.. you ask for it..

More deficit spending than any president in history.

More expensive vacations, costing more, than any president in history.

More golf games than any president in history.

Pushed, Passed and Signed the greatest tax burden American public has ever
seen , Obamacare, in a single event.

Apologized to our enemies, angered our allies.

Invaded Libya without Congressional Approval or a Declaration of War.

Gave weapons to Taliban to foment unrest in Syria.

Withdrew from Iraq without honoring Status of Forces Agreement.

Appointed Hillary Clinton as Secretary of state who then violated
repeatedly the National Secrets Act, most likely for personal profit, under
his watch.

Repeatedly violated the Constitution by refusing to follow the laws already
in place on immigration.

Paid ransom and released war criminals in exchange for a deserter, without
Congressional Approval.

Supplied weapons to members of Mexican Drug Cartels resulting in numerous
murders, using those weapons, then instructed his Atty General to not
prosecute or investigate.

Repeatedly attempted, and continues to attempt to violate the Bill of
Rights, 2nd Amendment, by executive order, for personal political gain..

Spent billions bailing out banks, General Motors, Green energy projects...
without any controls for how that public money was spent, or if it was to
ever be paid back..

The list is much longer... but those are just a few of his holyness's
"successes".

"Electing Obama to a second term is like backing up Titanic so you could
hit the iceberg twice"

I've just watched 7 consecutive years of the greatest robbery in the
history of the earth and you get your panties wet over the price of gas
believing Obama directly lowered it?

You actually may be right.. the economy is so bad, and so many people are
out of work or lost personal income they stopped driving, so, demand is at
record lows... oil companies sales have hit new lows... Supply and demand
still rule the market place.. Saudi Arabia is, for the first time ever,
running a deficit.. by billions.

Re: [MBZ] Fuel Prices, was: We should sell our 123s in Deutschland

2016-02-26 Thread clay via Mercedes
The magical BHO has the devotion of a few idiots out here who hold positions of
power in the Soviet Socialist Republic of Seattle. The solution to their many
eco problems is to hike the taxes upon the population until we cease consuming.
Fuel taxes were just hiked $0.18/gallon. Our current tax burden is the 3rd
highest in the nation for fuel. The state charges, IIRC, $6/gal for spiritous
liquor (20% sales $3.77/lt). $30 on a carton of smokes. Soda syrup is taxed
$1/gallon to screw over soda fountains. Each fireplace in your home is $30,
unless you put in NG. That has some steep rate per therm. We even tax THC at
38%. General Sales taxes come to 9-10% on non food items.

It does not pay to be a voting tax payer here. Better to be some homeless
schlub who gets all manner of "free" services and lives better than the working
poor

Do you actually believe that BHO had anything to do with lower oil prices?
Or are you just poking us? I recall some in his administration calling for
fuel prices like in Europe. His, and other leftists' attempts to stop
fracking luckily failed, and this is the reason for low fuel prices.

If you actually believe BHO had a role in lowering fuel prices, can you

get to stop there on my way to Orlando every now and then. The

We're more like $2.89 for regular gas and $3.39 for diesel.
When I hauled Dimitri's new 240D north I put a tank of mid into the Dodge. It
seemed to like it better and returned 15mpg loaded which I thought was
fantastic. Overall on my trip of 1100 miles I averaged 18mpg which is pretty
good considering 2 days in the woods ran 13mpg each.

Speaking of prices, gasoline prices have been dropping here, but diesel
has come down only a little.

Now, it's almost cheaper to drive our Big Red Van than our '82 240D/3.0!

Today at the Mobil station I have been tracking, I saw:

            Regular    2.749
            Mid    2.879
            Premium 2.999
            Diesel  3.499

That's the station I've been tracking, but recently we have been buying
our fuel from the Smith's grocery store station, where we can get a
discount because of the points we rack up buying food and such. Monday,
I purchased some premium gasoline for 2.559. I think Smith's is trying
to put the others out of business, too.

Re: [MBZ] Fuel prices

2014-11-20 Thread Randy Bennell via Mercedes

That sounds very good.
I do not think my F150 will match it.
In the summer, on the highway, I could get 20 to 22 mpg on my runs
from Winnipeg to the lake and back but I am talking about Imperial
gallons so deduct 20% for US gallons.
Not quite so good on my runs from Winnipeg to Grand Forks but that tends
to be wide open spaces and higher speeds so the wind and the higher
speed tend to work against me.
On the highway south the speed limit is 75 and we are usually a bit over
80 mph so that does not help.
I know with the 02 F150 it made a big difference if I kept the speed
down to about 60 mph. Load did not seem to matter but speed did.
The 13 F150 has a solid tonneau cover on the box too and some folks
claim that helps a lot. I have my doubts as to whether the difference is
measurable.
However, I really like it for security and for just keeping things dry
etc. Was well worth the cost.

These days, in town with the cold and short trips, I am doing about 12
mpg - again Imperial gallons.

It was -15 C this morning and is only up to minus 11 now at 3 PM.

Sounds like we're about the same. If I keep the speed down I've gotten as high
as 22mpg but like you as speed increases mileage goes down. You have to be
willing to make it all about the journey I suppose. Northern Maine is 75mph
speed limit so we really hustle...
I wonder about the effect of the tonneau covers, Mythbusters validated the data
I had with my Dakota that an open tailgate will get worse mileage than a closed
one. Counter intuitive but true... I'd like to see some real before and after
data on tonneau covers.

from Winnipeg to the lake and back but I am talking about Imperial
gallons so deduct 20% for US gallons.

It was -15 C this morning and is only up to minus 11 now at 3 PM.

has come down only a little.

Not sure if it is the same there as here but Diesel doesn't move much on
a cyclic basis. It tends to stay at a level for a while (had been
AU$1.50/L for quite a while) and then moves up a bit, it's $1.60 now.

Can't remember the last time Diesel moved down, perhaps never?
Petrol tends to move about 10 cents in a week but cycles up, it had been
hovering around 1.30 to 1.55 for a while, depending on the news of the
day. Now it's topping 1.60 and we'll probably be lucky to see it dip
below 1.50.
Then there are the shopping receipt discounts, you know the ones that
expired the day before you go to use them.
