Those panels are hung on and not clipped. Don't pry it away or you'll break
plastic pieces off.

You need to lift up the panel.

Are you real sure about step 7? It has been a while since I did this too but
it seem to remember prying out on the bottom panel of my '81 SD and broke
some stuff on my door panel. Manual page 72-100 only says unscrew screw at
bottom of panel and

Pull door lining in upward direction and remove...then... Note says...
Attention! Panel is hung on and not clipped on.

No PDF needed.

1.) Pry black plastic trim out of the handle recess (there is a small slot
on the hinge side of the plastic.)

2.) Remove phillips head screw from inside of bracket.

3.) Slide bracket down onto door pull. You'll expose a large phillips head
screw at the top of the door pull.

4.) Remove screw from door pull and two other screws in the bottom of the
arm rest. Remove arm rest from door.

5.) Remove chrome door strike trim from trailing edge of door.

6.) Remove two very small phillips head screws in side of window frame trim
on trailing edge of door. Remove trim.

7.) With a putty knife or similar tool, pry bottom edge of inner door panel
out to release door panel. Work al the way around the door until the pins
are released.

8.) With door panel loose, carefully lift up and towards the front to unhook
panel from front edge of door and window channel.

9.) After carefully removing the moisture shield (replace if damaged or
torn!) you can see the release lever. Remove clip holding the lock rod and
the two large phillips head screws.

I'm doing this from memory, so if anyone wants to offer corrections, feel
free to do so.

Today, I pulled on the interior handle to get out of
 my car (Front Drivers

 to the pivot (?)
via some sort of press-fit pin. (It's there,
but I see the hole in the

 can get the door to
un-latch from the inside, but it's tricky.

Anyway, I see I've got to replace that chrome handle and
 some other

Anyone have the proccedure to remove/replace (and I'm

2009-01-20 Thread Loren Faeth
124, 126 (and later I assume) door panels have hooks, and are removed
by bumping them up. As others have said, on the 126, if you pry out,
you break the hooks and then are in trouble. Sometimes you have to
bump really hard for a long time to get them loose. The armrest is
held by hooks also. (unless it was like one of my cars where the PO
had broken the armrest hooks, and I used long drywall screws to
attach the armrest again.)
