Re: [meteorite-list] "Lunar" for $200/g
I am not going to make any comment on wither it is genuine or not but for purposes of this email I will assume that it is genuine. Assuming its genuine $50 for shipping (Fed Ex?) dont sound excessive. I couldent ship anything from here fed ex for $50 for example. Note also that seller doesnt appear to be very ebay savvy and probably could use a tutorial on using ebay. He has the whole 256 gram meteorite started at $200 but from his description it is obvious that he wants $200 a gram (Actually a starting price of over $50,000) but he has actually started the auction at $200 for the whole thing (Ebay rules wont let you list it the way he wants to). Somebody (Aziz in morocco maybe) might want to help the poor guy out and explain to him how to list things the way that he wants to on ebay. Cheers DEAN PS: Of course A little more detailed description explaining why he thinks that it is actually a Lunar might be a little helpful to but I wont get into that --- On Wed, 30/12/09, Abdelaziz Alhyane wrote: > From: Abdelaziz Alhyane > Subject: Re: [meteorite-list] "Lunar" for $200/g > To: "meteorite list" , "Richard > Kowalski" , "David Pensenstadler" > Received: Wednesday, 30 December, 2009, 3:48 PM > Didn't you notice he is from Tindouf, > high desert with no internet. > Cheers > Aziz > > --- On Wed, 12/30/09, David Pensenstadler > wrote: > > > From: David Pensenstadler > > Subject: Re: [meteorite-list] "Lunar" for $200/g > > To: "meteorite list" , > "Richard Kowalski" > > Date: Wednesday, December 30, 2009, 3:28 PM > > Did you also notice that he wants $50 > > to ship it!? > > > > --- On Wed, 12/30/09, Richard Kowalski > > wrote: > > > > > From: Richard Kowalski > > > Subject: [meteorite-list] "Lunar" for $200/g > > > To: "meteorite list" > > > Date: Wednesday, December 30, 2009, 2:45 PM > > > I found this new listing from an > > > ebayer with no feedback for "lunar" material > found > > this past > > > September > > > > > > http://tinyurl.com/yge5uv9 > > > > > > > > > -- > > > Richard Kowalski > > > http://fullmoonphotography.net > > > IMCA #1081 > > > > > > > > > > > > __ > > > http://www.meteoritecentral.com > > > Meteorite-list mailing list > > > Meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com > > > http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list > > > > > > > > > > > __ > > http://www.meteoritecentral.com > > Meteorite-list mailing list > > Meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com > > http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list > > > > > > > __ > http://www.meteoritecentral.com > Meteorite-list mailing list > Meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com > http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list > __ http://www.meteoritecentral.com Meteorite-list mailing list Meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list

[meteorite-list] Museums Keeping meteorites dry
I am advising an institution here in New Zealand who is planning to put together a world class meteorite collection for public display. They already have a dozen or so meteorites on display (Mostly donated by dealers like Haag who has a "thank you" next to the specimens already there) but they are going to put together what will surely be New Zealands greatest meteorite collection when complete. The question is what should they be displayed in and what type of climate control is necessary. New Zealand dont get overly hot or cold so temperature will not be an issue but Kiwis go to London for a nice dry vacation where it doesnt rain all that much. It seems to rain all the time here and humidity is often very high. I have some ideas but please let me know what you think would be best and what meteorite types in particular need special climate control. They are putting the display together before acquiring the specimens so want to get it right from the start. Any advice or ideas that would help keep this public meteorite display from crumbling in the high humidity would be greatly appreciated Sincerely DEAN __ Visit the Archives at http://www.meteoritecentral.com/mailing-list-archives.html Meteorite-list mailing list Meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list

Re: [meteorite-list] Tsunami alert (Report)
Well, hundreds of people here in Auckland camped out on a hill waiting for the tsunami. A dozen or so people refused to heed the warning and graciously stayed on the beach so that we could all have good video. A cruise ship was moved from the pier and anchored off in the harbour and all ferries in the city was canceled. Hundreds of yachts was out in what is a stunning beautiful summer day today. Unfortunately the tsunami was a bust and nobody on the beach got nominated for a darwin award. We got 2 or 3 minutes of heavy waves in an otherwise beautiful calm day with the water like glass. See here the photo of the extent of the tsunami in Auckland. The calm was broken for a couple minutes and the waves never even went up the beach. http://www.meteoriteshop.com/pictures/tsunami.jpg We did however have a really nice picnic in the park with my two kiddies. You can see the tsunami in the background in this photo behind my two kiddies who are sitting on a WW2 gun. http://www.meteoriteshop.com/pictures/tsunami2.jpg Cheers DEAN __ Visit the Archives at http://www.meteoritecentral.com/mailing-list-archives.html Meteorite-list mailing list Meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list

Re: [meteorite-list] ATTENTION: Scientists and Researchers Who Classify Meteorites.. Urgent
This is a serious reason why people dont bother with getting all data possible with meteorites. It would be great if some lesser standard would be accepted as a classification (Especially on common chondrites). Many people (Myself included) dont even bother with such issues anymore. I cant even get achondrites done within a year. I tried to start a classification service about 4 years ago after being promised a eight week turnaround by a couple places in australia but that unfortunately never worked out and we are no longer accepting new submission (Although the ones currently outstanding we have been promised "Within two months" for three years now. However, in a big cosmic coincidence, four years ago, when I announced the grand opening of my meteorite classification service Marvin Killgore on the very same day announced to this list that he to would within a very short time also have a for fee classification service that he would be doing himself as he was in conjunction with some institution and has the expertise and access to all of the equipment to do so. I would assume that since more than a few weeks have passed in the last four years since he announced the imminent opening of his fee based classification service that it is now up and running so I assume that the man to contact for classifications nowadays is Marvin Killgore. I dont have his email address but somebody should be able to find it easily I am sure. [meteorite-list] PELISSON SLIMEBALLS STRICKS METEORITE COMMUNITY AGAIN
Here is a somewhat sad email that I received from a new ebay NWA customer last week. Like a majority of new collectors nowadays he started out on ebay and was doing research on meteorite to advance his meteorite knowledge and this website showed up telling him that terrorists were supporting NWA. After explaining to him how big of slimeballs these guys are and that they are outcasts in the meteorite community (Even banned from what I would consider the worlds most important meteorite auction - bloods tucson auction) he is OK with collecting again. I had somebody in my shop about two months ago who is a new meteorite customer and he also found this site doing research and he said (To Quote) "All NWA meteorites are found by terrorists - there are no legitimate finds". I realize that anybody can put up a website and spew out garbage (Look at all the anti sematic, pedophile and other sites out there) and the Pelisson website in my opinion falls into this catagory with the garbage. Anybody involved in meteorites is being damaged by new collectors reading this garbage and not knowing the difference. I dont have solutions because I cant force that website down but anything possible the meteorite community should do Few places in the world has benefited the poor locals more than NWA meteorites and new collectors should know that and not worry that they are supporting terrorists. Re: [meteorite-list] cottingham - BAN BILL
I remember when I joined this list about 10 years ago that there was always a great meteorite discussion and many academics were willing to share insights. This discussion forum has gone downhill over the years as the result of a very small number (Less than a dozen) people who regularly made personal attacks for various reasons - often has part of a misguided sales strategy to sell meteorites. Over the past year almost everybody has quited down , realizing that they were harming themselves as much as their victim - or have simply left or been kicked of the list. Very few academics will associate themselves with the list and make postings anymore. Its mostly dealers and a die hard few nowadays who post. Very few people (Less than a dozen) care if somebody makes a couple extra sales postings a month. Most people have learned what a delete key is used for. Over the past six months this list basically has a single diehard crackpot that continues to dribble (Or flood) out this sort of bile that is responsible for people not taking part in discussions and responsible for the loss of "community spirit" that this list had when I joined 10 years ago. The list was better then and many members considered other members personal friends even if they never met. People dont leave this list because of a couple extra sales postings (Although they leave because of the bitching about it). Recently everybody has either been acting (At least semi) civilized (or left altogether). Today, A single crackpot is left that continues to spew the hate and bile for no reason other than that he gets off on it that the rest of us would prefer to not be exposed to as we discuss or sell meteorites. I recommend that Art Ban crackpot bill Sincerely DEAN --- On Thu, 4/30/09, bill kies wrote: > From: bill kies > Subject: [meteorite-list] cottingham > To: meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com > Date: Thursday, April 30, 2009, 3:45 PM > The met-list. > An easy way to eliminate the issue is to lift the AD > limit... problem solved. > Just my opinion. > Greg C. > I am not going to try and set policy or personally declare myself sheriff but I will make an argument in support of this - realizing that a small number of people do abuse the postings. I know myself when I make sale postings its usually a bunch of sales clumped all together. When I left Canada for example for a couple weeks I was having sales almost every day. Then nobody herd from me for a year. When I get a new moroccan shipment or when I go to shows like Tucson or Munich I also post almost daily sales sometimes. Sometimes the sales are on behalf of my moroccan friends and sometimes my own stuff and if I could only post one ad while in munich, becides hurting my personal profits it prevents people who cant go to take part in the show and acquire new stuff on offer. Another example: Michael Blood has in february what is probably the worlds biggest meteorite even as far as collectors are concerned. You never hear from him for a year so would it be fair to prevent list members from learning about the most recent updates to the main event? Of course not. Several people who were the biggest abusers have pretty much abandoned the list and you never hear from their sales anymore - you can bet that the list in general is missing out on new stuff because of that. However, with you agree with me or not, wither bill is right or not, one thing is clear. Spewing attacks to 1000 people and pissing half of them off is not the way to react. Nobody wants to hear this crap. You get more anti list bitching than you do ads. The list could be renamed the anti ad bitching list. Here is a tip. If you are confident that you never want to buy something from somebody just use your email filters to block that persons emails. Problem solved. Sincerely DEAN PS: You would of course think that sales are something new and not the same stuff on offer again (And again, and again and again and.). __ http://www.meteoritecentral.com Meteorite-list mailing list Meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list
Re: [meteorite-list] AD drama - an idea to solve it. - BAN BILL
bill kies says: "I have asked Art many times why he tolerates this stuff. It's been years now." OK, how high of an IQ is required to be able to figure out that Art really doesn't care? How many times do you need to be told to be able to figure it out? A little more repetitive training required maybe? And who gave you the authority to simply declare yourself sheriff and to go on constantly spamming a thousand people with vile and personal attacks because you have something up your butt and don't like the way that somebody is running their discussion list that has absolutely nothing to do with you? Its not your list. Here is the real idea to solve the problem. You don't like the way the list is policed - so unsubscribe yourself. Nobody is forcing you to endure this misery for "years now". You just don't get it do you. That personal attack on me had nothing to do with list policies or the discussion in question but everything to do about the real problem on this list. Nobody really cares wither I am doing well or on the way to the poorhouse or what the quality of what I am selling is. If they don't like my stuff they don't buy it. It was just a personal attack that you decided that you had to slip in for no sane reason other to spread more vile on the list. Its the attacks and bitching that is pissing people off. And today only you continue to expose the list to this senseless vile. Go away, the rest of us want to talk about, buy or sell meteorites. We are not interested in your senseless vile. Go create your own discussion group and then you can do whatever you want with it and you wont have to harass a discussion group owner and the people who are a member of his discussion list for "years now". [meteorite-list] My Ebay suspension
As if you didnt need another reason to try and diversify your business away from ebay here is what happened to me this morning. I am not making any part of this up or in any way dramatizing what happened. Neither Stephen King nor the guys on CSI could make this up. I wake up to numerous emails from ebay this morning from ebay cancelling my auctions and two emails saying that my account was suspended. Many auctions were canceled because they were "Significantly misrepresented". After 3 hours of chatting with people I finally get through to the "trust and safety" people after a recommendation from ebay australia. I was told that somebody (who??? - she had no way of knowing who) decided that my auctions were misrepresented. She couldent tell me what was misrepresented just that they look at the description, picture and content when deciding was what misrepresented but she had no way of knowing exactly what. So I try and reason with her. "If you cant tell me what it is about my auctions that was misrepresented how can I not repeat the problem in the future? Sit down before you read her response. She said that if ebay told everybody what they look for when they decide that auctions are misrepresented then people would do things to get around their security checks in future auctions so it would be a security violation to tell me what it was about my auctions that was being misrepresented and therfore canceled (And leading to my suspension.) She then said that my suspension was for 7 days so even if she did tell me it wouldent make any difference because you cant list on ebay for 7 days again anyway. Reasoning is getting harder. "OK, for my information. in seven days time when I get back on ebay again can you tell me what about my auctions was misrepresented so that I can fix them and not violate your policy in the future so I dont get kicked off again?". Sorry, telling you what the problem is would be a security violation and if people who what they looked for would do things to circumvent their rules in the future". This is going nowhere. I wish that I had a copy of that phone conversation. It would have looked good on youtube. In addition, the emails that ended the auctions said this: eBay has restricted your ability to list new items as a result of a policy violation. We'd be happy to lift this restriction once you've completed a brief tutorial about this policy. The next time you sign in to your eBay account, click on ?Sell? and ?Sell Your Item.? You?ll then be asked to take the tutorial. Once you've completed it, you can begin selling again immediately. __ Unfortunately, doing so is not possible so I cant even sign on. Even their emails dont make sense. So with a bit of luck, sometime in the next 7 days they will tell me what was wrong with my auctions so that I can fix it and not violate their policy - although maybe they will not because doing so might enable me to fix the problem out and circumvent their rules in the future. I plan to spend the next 7 days getting some shopping cart websites built and trying out other sites to sell stuff. Anybody got any ideas where else to list stuff? Anybody know somebody with ebay who will talk to me? Apparantly it was my pearl auctions that was somehow misrepresented but its not possible to find out why. It sgoing to be a pain relisting 1700 auctions. It probably wont get done - especially if I can figure out how to build a nice shopping cart website Cheers DEAN On a completely different note I need to come up with around $2000 in my paypal account in the next week so I am particularly into dealing from my website right now WWW.METEORITESHOP.COM so if you see anything let me know. Many thanks Carl for the poswerseller phone number. This has caused me $100 in phone bills today but at least the powerseller people reinstated my ebay account. The downside is that I now have no auctions at all listed and because ebay ended everything I have all the details lost so have to manually list everything again - 1700 auctions. Likely most wont get relisted as I plan to put more stuff on websites and diversify from ebay. I also found out why they suspended my account. Apparantly ebay has started a new rule where tahiti pearls are no longer permitted to be listed on ebay. So, rather than just end the pearl auctions (Or better yet - inform me of the new rule) they just said that I violated their rules to often (I assume more than 4 times since I had 300 tahiti pearl auctions so I violated their listing rules 300 times) and suspended my account. So anyway, thats why I was suspended and ebay has now kissed and made up so I can list everything except pearls again now. I have had 5 people email me privately with a message saying something to the effect of "Whats up with pearls - and could meteorites be next", so I will email the group rather than individually? Answer is be afraid - be very afriad. Apparantly the laws concerning the export and import of pearls are "complicated" so ebay has decided to no longer allow them (But there are still some listed on ebay and the "Trust and saftety" department told me it would be a security violation to give me this information - because people might use the info to circumvent those rules) so who the hell knows what ebay is up to. Even their own employees are kept in the dark (Presumably for security reasons) I was told that it is illegal to export pearls from French Polynesia directlty into the USA (Whats up, has obama got a new dislike for the french? - if I promise to never ever again use the term French Fry can I then list tahiti pearls again?) and that I should look into the laws regarding pearls in my own country before I sell anymore. So, I am told that conflicting and complicated laws are responsible for pearls getting prohibited from ebay. Hm. Complicacated and conflicting laws? That wouldent also apply to Meteorites, artifacts, coins, collectibles - not to mention leather pants (Countries where cows are sacred) or a free press in general in some countries would it. [meteorite-list] Astro Mikes meteor streak Photo
I hate to be a party pooper when everybody is all excited about having a photo of a meteor fall but astro mikes photo shown on his webpage here: http://www.mikesastrophotos.com/ Is not exactly all that it is cracked up to be. Reporters are renouned for not properly checking their info in an effort to get a scoupe but somebody deserves a raspberry over this one and at least somebody should have seen this photo for what it is before newspapers started printing it. The greenish streak is a starboard (right) wingtip nav light, the centre red is the rotating anti-collision beacon, and the red streak is the port (left) wingtip nav light. The two brighter white centre lights are the landing lights or maybe white tracking lights depending on what type of aircraft it is. It would have been flying up the photo to the left of the observer. There was a slight wind making the pilot crab into the wind which explains the non perfect parellel lines. The photo has quite a bit of dust and mike needs his CCD chip cleaned. Basically, While he was inside waiting the the long exposure photo to finish an aircraft flew through his image. [meteorite-list] Possible New "BL" Meteorite - Plus some other cute photos
Yesterday I sat down and did some cutting. I have a 3 kilo meteorite that looks somewhat like what I was selling as the affectionately nicknamed "BL" meteorite a couple years ago. I dont have any left to compare but if anybody has some take a look at this: http://www.ilovenewfoundland.com/ebay-photos/nwa4649.html This looks like it might be a more weathered "BL". The little grey spot in the upper left of the first photo is something that I have only ever seen on the "BL" meteorite. For a couple years there I just gave up on getting classifications done (I am still waiting on some that I submitted since 2001 so I just stopped bothering with classifications) but now that I have my own classification service and can get classifications done in around six months this one has been classified. On this webpage I also included a few other cute photos that I found while cutting yesterday that I thought somebody might like. Cheers DEAN Get easy, one-click access to your favorites. The piece that I sent in for classification wasnt nearly as nice as the larger cut in my photo. I didnt realize that it was so nice until yesterday when I started cutting it up. [meteorite-list] The EL3/Aubrite/whatever - Why FOSSIL?
I dont want to get involved in the thread about what the classification is (I will be pretty happy no matter what the proposed options are) but can somebody explain to me why its called a "Fossil" meteorite? I realize that the term "fossil" can be loosely used to describe pretty much any old stuff (You could even call a living person a "fossil" meaning a person with old fashioned stubborn views) but given that this is a scientific classification I would expect more rigid use of the term in a scientific standpoint. To become fossilized means that over a long peroid of time (Usually millions of years) actual organic material gets replaced by stone so that when you have a fossil such as a dinosaur tooth, fossil shark tooth or ammonite you actually have a rock and not a real creature. No DNA can be extracted since its only a rock. Thats why we dont even know if dinosaurs were warm or cold blooded. We are only studying a rock when we study dinosaur fossils - not a real original artifact. So called mammoth tusk fossil or 10,000 year old fossil buffalo bones are not really a fossil since you get the original item - not a fossilized version. Fossil insects and bacteria in amber is often not fossilized even if millions of years old. But the meteorite in question has not been fossilized. The chrondrules are real chrondrules and not a replaced with stone chrondrule. You are not getting a calcified stone when you buy this "fossil" meteorite. You are getting a real original meteorite (Even if highly weathered and oxidized). I realize that dealers (Including myself) call it a fossil or paleo meteorite but can somebody explain to me why it should be called a fossil (Or Paleo) meteorite? Merry christmas to everybody also. My opinion is pro slicer is the best. And after buying many tons of NWAs I have gone through lots of saw blades and pretty much tried them all. The worst I ever tried was "ADVANTAGE" which sort of falls apart as you watch it sitting on a shelf like a Nantan. [meteorite-list] AD: NWA'S ONLY $25 A KILO
$25 is actually below my cost but I have been accumulating quite a bit of low grade weathered meteorites over the past year and have been picking out nicer looking ones so its OK for me to sell them below my cost. They havent really been checked over much and I havent gone over them with a magnet (Although if you want I will go over them with a magnet to ensure a minimun level of magnetism). These are a variety of falls and often I cut them finding really nice cut surfaces (And sometimes they are weathered to the core - its sort of hit or miss). So they are not pretty but certainly cheap enough. Maybe you can take this opportunity to buy your very own saw as you would have lots of fun cutting these (I certainly do - but one can only cut so much). NOTE: METEORITES ARE SMALL AND MANY UNDER 10 GRAMS AND ALMOST ALL UNDER 50 GRAMS. NO BIG ONES. The only downside is that postage is very expensive here in new zealand and costs me about $20 a kilo to ship. But if you want quantity I can send 9 kilos fed ex for $150 and $15 a kilo above that. I have ample supply so if anybody is interested just paypal me the $25 plus $20 a kilo postage (Or if you want lots the fed ex shipping rate) to this email address. If somebody has a courier account and can get shipping cheaper feel free to arrange your own shipping. I am not making any money off the shipping (Or - for that matter, of the meteorites either) so it doesnt matter to me how they are shipped. To australia shipping probably marginally lower. Re: [meteorite-list] TKW help -- Kem Kem??
In 2000 (Might be 1999 or 2001, I cant remember exactly) this was in BNWA (Before NWA) ex meteorite dealer Michael Casper bought 300 kilos of meteorites (300 kilos was a massive amount of meteorites at a time when even weathered unclassified meteorites were getting $3 a gram on ebay) that he was told was found in the Kem Kem plain near the algerian border. I bought some from this 300 kilo bunch (As did a lot of other dealers and meteorites named "Kem Kem" was showing up on ebay). After seeing it in person I realized that this was a very large number of strewnfields all mixed together that Casper was selling. At around the same time the meteoritical society was trying to decide how to retain as much information as possible on all the meteorites that were just being sold with no particular pattern in morocco. Jeff Grossman in particular went on a "fact finding" mission asking dealers selling NWAs (They werent called NWAs back then) what was happening and the best way to accumulate as much info as possible on all of these mixed meteorites (I remember him asking me if the moroccans were cutting them up before selling them). It soon became obvious that TKW and GPS coordinates would not be known and it was decided by the met society that the best way to deal with the less than ideal (but nevertheless present) situation was to create the NWA system that we all now all know and love. I dont know of anything other than this 300 kilos was ever sold as Kem Kem. However, there are a lot of NWA's that originally were a part of Caspers 300 kilos of "Kem Kem". Bernd mentions a 14 gram eucrite and my very own historical meteorite NWA001 originally came from this 300 kilos of "Kem Kem". There are lots more for sure as this "Kem Kem" was a very mixed group of meteorites and at that time we all were under the misguided notion that all meteorites from NWA would eventually be classified (Wither they actually all came from the Kem Kem plain or not is another matter and will probably never be known). Thats my Kem Kem memories anyway Cheers DEAN www.meteoriteshop.com AMUNRE on ebay --- tracy latimer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > I was given to understand that Kem Kem was one of > those "placeholder" provisional names given to a > meteorite that had not been classified. [meteorite-list] Message From Mark Bostick
I just spoke to Mark Bostick for the first time in three months or so. He hasnt been listing much ebay auctions but has had his brother taking care of a couple thousand ebay store items while he was away but it seems to have been a challenge for his brother to keep up and take care of his kids and work at the same time to so email responces have been slow. Mark has been taking care of his terminallylly ill father for the past few months and has not had any internet access. He is now in the process of taking ebay back over from his brother and is now sorting through more than 10,000 emails from his time away. He hopes to get back to everybody soon but if you need to contact him wait a few days as he widdles down his emails and then email him again. He apologizes if anybody is missing items and will take care of things shortly Cheers DEAN Never miss a thing. Re: [meteorite-list] Last Call for Alcohol
Since I moved to New Zealand getting alcohol has been a pain but when I lived in canada I could go to any drug store and get it. They had 70% stuff on the shelf and you had to get a licenced pharmacist to approve you buying the 99% stuff which was kept behind the counter. You got questioned about why you wanted it before you could buy it - which resulted in strange looks as a pharmasict who knew nothing about rocks tried to understand why I wanted it. Cutting with alcohol is excellent. You dont weather the meteorite, make a clean quick cut, dont make a mess and your blades last a long time. Very little clean up afterwards (when compared to cutting with water or oil). The only downside I found is that you get a very strong poisenous odor. I stopped using it because of this but if you had a good mask and cut outside (Preferably with a bit of wind to quickly drive the fumes away from you) it would probably work well. Probably wouldent be a good idea to cut indoors using alcohol. Thats my thoughts on cutting with alcohol anyway. I loved using it except for the fumes. I never experienced the spark/fire problem that adam mentioned but that sounds like something to consider and might be another reason to only cut outside. Re: [meteorite-list] Major eBay Changes to Feedback
The reason your feedback score went up so much is because other users can leave you one feedback a week and it will count in your score. Right now somebody can leave you 1 feedback a week over a year and it only counts once. After the changes this would increase your score by 52 after a year. Instead of a maximun of one feedback per user per lifetime it changes to one feedback per user per week. Negative scores might immeadiately reduce also as if somebody is kicked off ebay their feedbacks will no longer count. Re: [meteorite-list] The Scoop on "Kem Kem"
I just got back from australia and am sorting through thousands and thousands of emails so my apologies if this has already been answered. There is no recogonized meteorite term as "Kem Kem". The term "Kem Kem" dates from the days just before the official creation of the term "NWA" roughly 9 or 10 years ago. Hundreds of kilos of meteorites were being sold at random in Morocco and everybody (Including the met society) was trying to best figure out how to catalog and deal with the situation of mixed meteorites from many different falls thrown in together and sold in bulk (Not that big a deal nowadays but A novel new thing 10 years ago). Meteorite dealer Michael casper - now I believe (at least semi) retired, got his hands on a large quantity (If I remember correctly 300 kilos but my memory might be a little off after 10 years) and he sold them in bulk using the name "KEM KEM" and saying that they were found in the Kem Kem desert. They were very cheap for meteorites - I believe 30 or 40 cents a gram which was I think the first time that any meteorite was ever publicly advertised under $1 a gram. At the time everybody probably believed the Moroccans story that they were found in the Kem Kem desert but of course nowadays we all take location data with a grain of salt at best. I was among Caspers buyers and on seeing them it was obvious that it was a very mixed group of meteorites and from a very wide variety of falls. Soon afterwards the name "NWA" was officially put in place and anything classified from Caspers "Kem Kem" hoard (Including NWA001) was given a NWA name. If you see anything labelled Kem Kem it will almost surely be from caspers one time 300 Kilo hoard that just pre dated NWA. Nobody else has ever used that name as the introduction of NWA shortly afterwards cancelled peoples need to try and make up names to describe their meteorites. Almost certainly the location data of caspers 300 kilo hoard is just as iffy as location data that you get nowadays so wither they were actually found in Kem kem or not is really a moot point as nobody really cares about such details nowadays. But your Kem Kem stones can be traced to a particular buy from the early days and has that little extra bit of history to them. They were a particularly nice group of meteorites also and better than any 300 kilo mixed hoard that you are likely to find offered in morocco nowadays. > From: Greg Hupe > > think also that the true story is all about good luck and > the willingness to get permission and agreements from > property owners! > It is more than that. It is also an example of common sense historical artifact laws at work. Britain has constructed their artifact laws in such a way that it is in a finders best interest to report all of their findings (It is also illegal to not report your findings but that dont really give you much incentive and wont work anyway). As a result whenever artifact or coin hoards get found in UK everybody who is interested gets to study them and learn as much history as possible from the stash. And the actual finder gets more money for them than if he tried to sell them in secret on the UNESCO black market (Probably has to pay taxes on the sale of the hoard also). Finder, science, general public, government, land owners - everybody wins with british cultural property laws. If this stash of gold was found in Italy, Israel, Egypt or Peru, the site would have been very quickly destroyed behond recognition and reburied (After dark and probably all in one night) to hide any evidence of the sites existance, and the gold melted down, stamped Johnson matthey and (With the governments full blessing) shipped out of the country. Rather than being studied by researchers as this hoard will be, it would have gone on the next fed ex flight out and went directly from the archaeological site to a swiss bank vault. It would have been UNESCO at work Sincerely DEAN __ http://www.meteoritecentral.com Meteorite-list mailing list Meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list
Re: [meteorite-list] OT - Gold Hoard Found in England
Well, I am not that up on british law and maybe there is a british legal clause that the guys dont own it. That is however different from what the article says as it clearly says that they will split the proceeds (Not that reporters always get the details right when it comes to value). It is also contrary to what my friends who are coin and artifact dealers have to say about british cultural property laws. Most of them are quite happy with how the british handle things and you never hear stories about how they got screwed by the cultural property department (Compare what people have to say about britain to what they say about canadian cultural property laws for example). Maybe though you are right and that these guys will in fact not get a cent. I am not a lawyer. But I am leaning toward thinking that they will get a fair shake come payoff time. But if I am wrong and these guys do get their loot legally stolen from them by the government you can bet that the next gold stash that is found wont end up being studied and on public display but will discreetly get sent to switzerland shaped as not so small shiney cubes. My bet is that the guys running the cultural property system in britian is smarter than that. What happened was that 4 or 5 people decided that they would hijack Art's list as if it was their own and decide to prevent people from making "to many" (Whatever that means) ads. After months and months of bombarding the list with anti ad attack postings Art basically tried to shut up the malcontents that dont appriciate the fact that they have the privelidge being a part of what is basically the best online meteorite forum and said "OK, one a week". Then, rather than shut up, these 4 or 5 people decide to declare themselves sherrif and kept going on with this anti ad campaign and even the most minor offence (Even during big shows like tucson and munich) was enough to make attack postings. Nobody leaves this list because of the ads (Well there may have been 2 or 3 people who left because they are to stupid to use the delete button or block sender button in their email settings and dislaike the fact that people are allowed to own meteorites like the cultural property people in some governments but its an insignificant few). People leave because of the bickering. Dont try and twist it around that its not because of those 4 or 5 people that is basically ruining things for everybody. Becides why are you 4 or 5 people constantly harrassing the other 1000 of us with your diatrabes? An iq of about six would enable you to understand that the only person who matters is art so why dont you email him rather than the rest of us who cant do anything even if we did buy the fact that you somehow have the right to unilaterally declare yourselves sherrif even though you have no ownership or control of this list? The answer of course is that Art has the smarts to ignore the whackos. Nobody is forcing anybody to be a part of this list. You dont even need arts permission to leave. You can do it yourself. Stop this assanine BS and let us talk meteorites and have sales. If you have a problem dont complain to the other 1000 of us. And the "Majority consensus" that you refer to is about the same as what the "Majority consensus" of an iranian election would be. It is flat out not the will of the majority of list members or the list owner but the will of 4 or 5 people who wants to run the list as they see fit (Like the aftermat of an Iranian election). I suspect that cottingshams lastest excessive postings are designed to entertain and see how big an ass that certain paople can make of themselves by complaining about them. Some people has posted 2 anti ad attacks for every one of cottingshams supposedly excessive ads. The other 1000 of us are surely happy about that. Go away. But my real question is "What are you trying to acompolish by bombarding the other 1000 of us with multiple postings about the fact that you dont like lots of ads". We have no say in the matter wither we like it or not. Lets say that me the the other 1000 list members agree with you 100% and we want cottingham and big steve kicked off the list? What do you want us to do? Bombard Art with hundreds of complaints in the same way that these 4 or 5 people are bombarding the rest of us about the compalints about ads? You are complaining to the wrong people in your effort to stop all of these ad postings. The other 1000 of us have no say in the matter. This has been going on your years and years. We have had to put up with these hundreds of anti ad postings for years. Dont you think its time to give it a rest? If Art actually cared he would do something about it. These 4 or 5 people evidently care more than art does so dont try creating this holier than thou attitude in the name of art. Ad's arent the problem. These attack postings are the real problem (5 postings per as commenting on how bad the ad postings are dont seem like a sensible use of posting time. This has gone on for years. Somebody made this with a zagami 10 or 15 years ago. See here (This is not my website) http://www.marscube.com/about_fr.html It is pretty cool looking although in reality a very expensive paperweight. It was a popular item that sold for around $150 on ebay (At least thats what I easily sold a couple for at one time some years ago). Came with a nice descriptive writeup. [meteorite-list] Classic Ebay Letter
This dont pertain strictly to meteorites except that ebay has become the worlds best source of supply but last July ebay suspended me for a week because of something with my pearl auctions. They wouldent tell me what and a phone conversation with the worlds rudest person told me that it would be a security violation to tell me what was wrong with my auctions (Said if they told me what was wrong I could do things to get around the rules and list again). Usually they refused to even respond to emails asking what the problem was. Well, they finally answered one of my emails asking what was wrong with my auctions. I still have no idea what was wrong with my auctions but at least they answered my emails. Now I have to do some guesswork so that I can list pearls again. Not sure what counterfeit and replica items have to do with my pearl auctions. Just goes to show. You cant depend on running strictly an ebay business Cheers DEAN - Dear Dean, Thank you for writing eBay in regards to your items that were removed in July. Re: [meteorite-list] Exploding Fireball in New Zealand Proves a Mystery
A couple days ago this "event" was the headline news here in new zealand. It was reported as multiple witnesses seeing a plane crash in a fireball in the lake. It wasnt reported as a strange event (Not on the 6 oclock news anyway). It was reported as a plane crash. Search and rescue and volunteers were doing a search of the area even though no reports of planes were missing and no planes were overdue on flight plans and nobody had reported missing persons to the police. I might consider going to look for the possible meteorite but cultural property laws here is such that you are not even allowed to possess a meteorite more than 30 days after finding it so I wont bother. But in any case New Zealand has such huge amounts of rainfall and a very lush countryside with lots of trees and vegetation that is usually set against volcanoes and mountains which are everywhere. This keeps tourists coming (and happy) but the environment would be almost impossible to find a meteorite in anyway - and it wouldent last long with all the rain. [meteorite-list] AD/SALE/BIG DISCOUNTS/NEED HELP/NEW WEBSITE
I have been working on building one of those fancy ecommerce websites for almost a year now - ever since ebay raised their listing fees on store items between 250% and 500% last year and I got reinspired recently after ebay announced yet another fee increase in my bread and butter under $10 items. Its been tough going and I have had to learn minimal PHP programming but I think that I have something that works now. There are still some bugs and I need to fix up a couple things but nothing serious now (I hope anyway). So without further adio my new ecommerce website is located at: http://www.neptuneposeidon.com/ A big 30% discount of anything of interest and only $5 postage in total no matter how much that you order. THIS DEAL AND DISCOUNT ONLY APPLIES FOR TODAY AND ONLY FOR THE NEW SHOPPING CART. I WANT TO TEST THE SHOPPING CART TO SEE IF IT WORKS SO OFFERING A HUGE DISCOUNT TO MAKE SURE SOMEBODY MAKES A PURCHASE. I want to see what problems that I will have with the site. However, there is a catch to this deal. In order to get it you have to register on the site as a user and do a "checkout". I havent tested the paypal checkout yet so when you checkout click check/money order and I will send you another email with the total afterwards that you can use for paypal. I just want to see if my shopping cart site works before I start loading a lot of stuff on it. There is a bug in the system where the items wont show sold until somebody finished the checkout process. This means that if two people attempts to buy the same item at the same time the second person to checkout wont know that the item has already been sold. So, in the event that two people buy the same item the first person to finish the checkout process will get the item. Now I will hold my breath and see if my site works: Cheers DEAN And the new website that you have never seen before is: http://www.neptuneposeidon.com/ Yahoo! [meteorite-list] TUCSON AUCTION REALIZATIONS
sick of them so drop the price to one cent and they get $20. Look at farmers "massive 1 cent sales" that he always posts ads to this list for. Some of his stuff actually goes for one cent (Dont believe me - look over his closed auctions over a peroid of time). The previous and next week will get more. He sells stuff at one cent but you can bet he dont stay in business because those 1 cent sales determins the value of his meteorites. Dont sound like a market guage to me. Auction realization prices are outdated the minute they are printed and are nothing more than a reference item. (7)Who buys at auctions? If you go to almost any regular auction in any collectible you will find the hall half filled with dealers. Dealers are there to buy stuff for resale (Well, they also buy on behalf of customers who want to remain annonomous or cant attend). So you can bet that they are not paying top dollar. (This supports item #6). So for these reasons I believe realizations should be made freely available. More potential marketing, more trust in the process (One has to wonder just why information is not made available to and deliberately witheld from buyers - just look at the lies the moroccans tell everybody (including what they tell me) about the TKW of their recent find. Nobody trusts a moroccan anymore - Not that non moroccan dealers have not also been guilty of lying about TKW and pairings but thats another matter). This uncertainly reduces the price that moroccans get for their meteorites in the long term as you always have this doubt about what you are buying. It might help with legal problems (Like everybody else in america, Auctioneers can be sued), gives more marketing potential for future auctions, creates a record for history and the idea that auction realizations reduces market prices is silly. Bloods auctions are included here because he asked for dealers opinions and it is currently the topic in question but I am talking about auctions in general. One last point. Farmer posted the price realized to langs auctions publicly. A lot of people will keep their own records (As from experience with other collectibles people want this information). An auction is an event that can take up all your time. You can bet that some of these people will make mistakes in the madness of an auction but those erroneous price realizations could easily become a matter of public record if thats the only record available. So its only my personal opinion as one dealer but that is my reasons why I believe prices realized should be made public. Since gary had a mesosiderite question I thought that it would be an opportune time to inform everybody who bought my mesosiderite that I now have a name. My apologies for this posting to those who never but there must be at least 3 or 4 dozen or more list members who have bought the un-named mesosiderite from me over the past several years. Like pretty much all dealers I have been selling the mesosiderite for several years and I have been promising everybody that I would get them a name although never got around to doing it. Most people I assume either got their own NWA name, used another or just plain dont care as everybody knows that all the NWA mesosiderites are all paired. Anyway, as promised if you bought a mesosiderite from me you now have an official name to call it by. It will appear in the next met bulletin as NWA4576 and you can use that name. TKW will be listed as around 30 kilos but of course everybody who is not trying to lie about the TKW knows that what they are selling is part of around 200 kilos in total TKW and in reality the entire fall should be known by one NWA number anyway. Re: [meteorite-list] Peruvian nutjob
HAHAHAHAHAHA. Good One. This is the best one that I have herd since the pellisons reported that they see terrorists behind every rock and on the other side of their shot glasses. I was going to respond to this a couple days ago but well, its hard to type when you cant stop laughing at the stupidy and nievity of the posting. Do you ever try and study up on something and think a little before putting mouth in gear? This is all to funny. Trying to make people believe that american legal standards work in Peru. You have a piece of paper with something written on it. Do you know what a contract is worth in peru? I can assure you its worth less than in morocco where people dont bother getting contracts for deals worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. The value of your contract is certainly worth less than the 100 sole banknote that you hand the cop in charge of enforcing (Or turning a blind eye) the protection of your bomb crater. Do you know that in peru the police (excluding the tourist police), immigration and customs officials make mexicos traffic police seem like honest respectable law enforcement people (And theres an oxymoron for you - "mexican traffic police" and "honest" in the same sentence)? In Peru if you want to buy looted artifacts you go to the police, government and immigration officials (Better have some good connections first before you try that though). Let me ask yo this? Did you pay the police before you got your document? Police in peru wont take a statement from you without payment first. In Egypt they call it "Backish". In Peru they dont try and sugar coat the fact. You should know before you search your crater that this is not kansas anymore. And here is something even funnier than thinking peru is an american state with enforcable american laws. I have already beaten you to the crater. About two or three years ago when the meteorites were being paraded through Peru's media (And obviously not meteorites even from th epictures) a couple of my friends went there looking anyway even though I told them it was a waste of time (Its easy to get to). But peruvian scientists declared the basalt to be meteorites. But you have to remember peru is a place where scientists and the government are all for the destruction of cultural artifacts in the name of keeping them out of collectors hands and this wholesale destruction has the full support of UNESCO. For example all around lima the shantytowns are built over old graveyards and sewage is totally destroying the items buried underneath. However, Peruvian law is such that if you dig a hole in your own backyard and salvage the artifacts that will be destroyed completely with sewagage in 10 years time you will get arrested and put in jail. Pre columbian graveyards all contain gold by the ton but the gold artifacts are all melted down into bars (Once melted down pre colombian gold artifacts are then legal to export). This with the full support and knowledge of the peruvian government and UNESCO. Make no wonder the really smart peruvian government scientists declared them meteorites. But you know what. The police in Peru are only interested in things of value. Since there is nothing of value (Except old scraptnel which could be sold as scarap metal I guess) in or around your crater and you have a legal document to protect it well maybe the police will enforce your legal title. You have the legalities to protcet your crater all in place. I would write more but this is just to funny. Sincerely DEAN PS: For people who want to know what this is the crater is an old bomb crater and the meteorites are either scraptnel or volcanic basalt - something you would think somebody from peru would know - even without university training. I had saved some of the online news reports of the meteorite crater that was in peru's media a couple years ago but unfortunately I seem to have deleted the links. Bored stiff? Loosen up... Re: [meteorite-list] Peruvian nutjob
I have been to peru maybe 20 times or more. I love the place and have a lot of friends there. And as somebody said yesterday on this list I can attest that the pisco sour is the worlds best drink (Worth going to peru just to drink it). Most of the time I go to arequipa where most of my peruvian friends live (And near where your crater is located). I used to pay people to grow black alpacas for me so that I could get rugs and teddy bears made out of black alpacas (Black is hard to get and I had to get them bred for me). I have exported many thousands of alpaca handicraft items which I sold on ebay and had customs made for me (When I lived in Canada I used to supply many alpaca farms in north america with teddy bears which I could supply cheaper than they could make them themselves from breeding the alpacas themselves). I also used to buy large amounts of minerals like peruvian opal which I bought hundreds of kilos at at time. Most of my friends in peru are in the tourist industry so I have lots of connections. You are right that most peruvians are honest - but the police are not. I can also tell the difference between volcanic basalt and meteorites. Your two links that you showed us shows a lot of cute maps and pictures of people but like the martian frass nutcase you dont show any actual meteorites (or even bomb craters for that matter). Unfortunately I stopped going to peru a couple years ago when I got married so no longer import the minerals and alpaca products. So yes, I am very familiar with the workings of Peruvian customs, police, immigration officials ect and not just making up stories. I know what I am talking about here when it comes to peru. As I said, I know in detail how life works in peru (And as I said earlier you should be aware yourself before you go that its not like kansas anymore - look at a map. Re: [meteorite-list] Peruvian nutjob - NEWSPAPER ARTICLE
I found the newspaper clipping but unfortunately it seems that the online paper (http://www.larepublica.com.pe/) has taken down the link so I no longer have the photos of the bomb crater and volcanic basalt meteorites. All I have is the email that my friend sent to me with the forwarded text. I got the BL Meteorite 3 or 4 years ago and no more seems to have turned up and no other dealer seems to have had any either. Of course you never know for sure with NWAs but it appears that I may have had it all. I may have a couple pieces in storage in Canada with my mother, brother or friend but I think that I only have two slices left. These I sent to blaine reed before I left canada (Who had them on display in denver last year) and I got them back for the munich show shortly afterwards (Where they were also on display). I had I think eight pieces in munich. I just put sandpaper to one side of each of these two slices and it is unusually soft and powdery for an LL. Certainly one of the nicest and most interesting chondrites you will find. See the photos of both sides of my last two slices here: http://www.meteoriteshop.com/metsale/bl.html Cheers DEAN http://www.meteoriteshop.com (PS:I would sell these for $1.90 a gram if anybody is interested. Re: [meteorite-list] trades vs ads
Dave, I wouldent worry to much as long as you dont overdo it. Art is on record as saying that he dont care about the ads and the policy was only put in place after 3 or 4 people whined and complained and spammed the list with more wasted bandwidth than the people posting dozens of sale postings a week. More people want the ads than are offended by them. As long as you are reasonable and not flood the list with minor insignificant or duplicate sale and trade postings over and over every day or two I doubt you will piss off more than one or two people who doesnt matter anyway. Just use common sense and be reasonable and you wont piss off more than 1% of the list. A lot of people are interested when you come up with new things that would be considered an ad by some people. You will notice that the biggest whiners are among the biggest abusers of the one week rule making "announcements of something new and important" and then claiming its not an ad. Use common sense and you will be fine. Re: [meteorite-list] Not Proud of Tom
While I have to admit (Somewhat embarrasingly) that I did read and had a laugh out of the past website and that it was mildly amusing in an offensive sort of way, I have to agree with anne. I didnt feel offended but I could easily see that the site was offensive to 3 or 4 of the "target" people and crossed the line between good natured humour among friends and was derogatory rather than funny. With several of the "target" people the humour was a mild form of the N word jokes and not harmless poking fun - and there was no apology from "proud tom" who didnt see any harm when these target people publicly complained about being offended. The internet is open to the world including non meteorite people who dont know personally the target people. Not exactly the way you would want your industry portrayed in public outside your own industry. I am with ann on this one. I say let Proud tom rest (Or maybe I should say die) in peace. [meteorite-list] AUCKLAND METEORITE PHOTO
Thought somebody would like this photo. The meteorite is way cool looking. Better than my photo shows. This is truely one of the worlds nicest meteorites. In the museum it is behind a dark glass and hard to take photos of. I had to photoshop the colors a bit to get it looking semi nice for my photo. I emailed the auckland museum and asked if it would be possible to get it taken out of the case so that I could get some really nice photos of it (I tried to bribe them by offering to donate a 25 gram slice of my CV3 if I could get some decent photos taken of it) but I got a very nasty email back from the museum saying that I should be well aware that it shouldent be handled anymore than necessary so it could be preserved for future generations to see. So I only have a so so photo. In any event my photo dont remotely do it justice but you might like it anyway. http://www.meteoriteshop.com/metsale/aucklandmeteorite.jpg Sincerely DEAN Do you Yahoo!? Re: [meteorite-list] Concerning the Peruvian possible impact
Gaetan, there is no "little bit more mystery to this story". The whole story has been conjured up by the mad delusions of somebody who somehow thinks that he knows what rocks from venus looks like - something even NASA dont know and can only guess at. There are no meteorites. The bomb crater was found a couple years ago (I told excatly when when I posted about this a week or so ago so see the archaives if you want to know exactly when this miracle of nature - and the peruvian military, came to life). Some reporter and "scientist" went there and found some volcanic rocks like is found all over southern peru and said "Wow, Really black rocks equals meteorite - we are rich and can now move to the USA and become a gringo". The scientist couldent have been a geologist since you would logically think that a real geologist (Or, for that matter, a half retarded 4 year old kid) could identify volcanic rocks that cover half of southern peru. My friends from arequipa went there soon after the "fall" and within a couple weeks after it was reported as a meteor crater in the local peruvian newspapers. I am told that it looks like an anti tank mine exploded and that there is scrapnel in the area. But hey. We dont know what rocks from venus looks like. Maybe the volcanoes dont deposit volcanic basalt all over southern peru. Maybe it is meteorites from venus and they just look different from all other meteorites. This might ruin my visions of the red (Green in ancient rome) venus goddess of love beliefs of what the planet venus is like for me though. I thought numerous goddesses swim nude in the warm tropical venus weather (Like they have in tahiti but no storms) waiting for earthings to go there. I believe that given that the planet is named after, and represents the love goddess that all of the planets meteorites are all shaped like erotic parts (With awesome flow lines). And since these peruvian rocks are not shaped like that they cannot be from venus. So case closed. That incorrect venesiun shape should be your proof that there are no meteorites in the mysterous bomb crater in southern peru. Now crying in my beer and needing lots more bought for me in ensisheim DEAN --- Gaetan Cormier <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hello All, > > To add a little bit more mystery to this story, > here's a video I found on > Google Video concerning a probable impact that > created a 3.8 quake according > to the description of this video. Re: [meteorite-list] all List members & Mike re Threats from Mr Gregory
While technically two rules have been violated (Posting personal messages and attacks) the content in my opinion more than justifies it. After all, if there is somebody who is going to make an effort to physically hard somebody who goes meteorite hunting or somehow hamper a legitimate meteorite search a lot of people would be interested and it is certainly meteorite related. I for one would like to know what certain people is capable of doing. Wither this is getting the mafia after you when searching allende in mexico, hiring police to cause one trouble in morocco, setting people up with the government to get arrested in oman ect, I would like to know so as to avoid contact with these people and to take any necessary action should I decide to take part in these search activities. You could I guess argue that this whole topic is not meteorite related since there are no meteorites except in one mad mans delusions, but given that meteorites and threats are in the same thread I am glad that I have as many of the details as possible of the situation. After all, I have been to arequipa peru dozens of times (And I actually had the crater in question investigated - although I never posted anything to the list concerning my "investigation" since there are obviously no meteorites in a bomb crater that has volcanic basalt and scrapnel scattered around it) but I do know from mikes email that I wouldent try and talk to the mad man of arequipa if I go to arequipa again. When he was a new misinformed meteorite lover you might want to talk to somebody and maybe explain things about meteorites to them. A potentially violent criminal who wont listen to comen sense about meteorites is a totally different matter altogether. I say there was nothing wrong with mikes posting and it is informative to at least some members. The people who are not interested of course wont read my email since they have been deleting emails from this thread long ago. People with an interest will read it. Sincerely DEAN Need Mail bonding? Putting code in the title is not really feisable. I am often short space anyway and already include my own code for example.
