relayctl reload: command failed

I've got a system that I cannot use relayctl to reload relayd. I get a rather vagus error about command failed. If I kill and restart the daemon it loads and runs just fine. I'm not sure where to start troubleshooting this but here's the output of a ktrace relayctl reload: 4107 ktrace RET
