Try import_jpg in Momocs on segmented images ie black shape on a white
background.
Be sure to get the last version (https://github.com/vbonhomme/Momocs/ ) ,

I would highly recommend Momocs. You can read in the images into R with the
import_jpeg function. The author has a lot of documentation on his website
and on github.
