Y'all need to read Ellin Keene's book To Understand. She totally gets the
idea that we can't teach everything. She narrows the language arts
curriculum to what is essential... and I found it very refreshing to read
someone
telling me to teach LESS and to teach for depth! She will make

The topic of time is always a big one, and I apologize if this has been a
repeated discussion here. In limited hours during our day, how do you find
time to teach all subjects? About how much time do you spend on writing
workshop, reading workshop, social studies, science, word study,
Feeling frustrated with the lack of time, I recently sat down with my schedule
and tried to align it with the demands. There simply is not enough time to do
the many things that are required. On top of that, we have to factor in all of
the interruptions, which have been many, and we also have
