Hi MOU Forum,
I enjoyed seeing the White-winged Scoter and Barrow's Goldeneye at Blue
Lake Pond with others this morning.
At one point while I was there, the two birds were close enough to each
other to fit in the photo frame together, a fun occurrence. I have posted
this shot and will share
Hi,
I wonder if anyone on MOU might know the email address of a Harvey Sobieck
who lives up near Grand Marais, (which you could send to me directly), he
is the birder I enjoyed spending some time with yesterday up in Grand
Marais. I'd like to send him a message if anyone knew his email adress,

Curious as to whether anyone can confirm whether this bird is still there
this afternoon? Maybe I'll swing by to see...

Yesterday afternoon from ~4:45 - 6:15 I visited Grey Cloud Dunes, in hopes
of seeing the Say's Phoebe that has been reported there the last couple
days.
I parked at the South Parking area. I did not see the Phoebe in the places

Kyle, Tami,
Thank you for the reports, nice to read..
Two winters ago we had Red-breasted Nuthatch winter in / around our
backyard in St. Paul. Last winter I saw none. This winter they are back
again, I've identified there are two of them this year, a pair. They don't
hang around here past
My wife Denise and I took a nice trip up to Grand Marais last weekend,
taking Thurs and Fri off work to make it a 4 day weekend.
I was happy to find and observe the Townsend's Solitaire in the RV Park and
get some nice photos, of which I can share links below. I see on ebird the
last observed
learned adaptation that gives them some advantage?

Went down to bass ponds after work today, hoping I’d maybe see the Bittern
that was spotted there recently, but I did not.
I did see a Fox Sparrow, and also a nice view of a female Rusty Blackbird
foraging in the little creek that comes out of the culvert at the junction
of trails, the spot where

whether adult or juvenile, I was huffing and puffing up that big hill..

That's sad to hear some of the Lilydale Eagles may have succumbed to Avian
Bird Flu, I have not been down there to look for birds since ~March.
I just wanted to interject, I have seen Osprey on a couple occasions at the
river near the Ford Dam over the last month or so. Both in flight here
I observed an Eagle down by the bass ponds this evening, ~5:00-5:30, that I
fear may be sick with Avian Bird Flu.
This eagle is one that is starting to show a fair bit of white on the head
and tail, so maybe ~4 yrs old I'd guess? This bird does not appear to be
banded. I have taken photos of
. I've not personally observed anyone violating
this while I've been there.,
Happy and respectful birding to you all,

I saw a Wilson's Phalarope yesterday afternoon down at 180th Marsh as well,
~5 pm, on the western end of the western pond, south of the road. It was
also busy doing its circling feeding behavior. They are a beautiful bird.
I saw 2 Dunlin the day before, ~5 pm.

The Ross's Gull was still there this afternoon, when I was there ~1 pm.
The bird did a nice flyby during my time there, after having been resting
along the WI shore for a while. Here is a photo I got, if interested.

Steve,
Yes thanks for info! I had this week off so zipped up there this afternoon,
did the Wildlife Drive.
Lots of Harriers, Rough-legged Hawks and Eagles active in the brisk wind.

Tom we had a pair all last winter we are in Mac-Groveland. They stayed

Hi everyone,
What a remarkable opportunity to see such a gorgeous bird. There is one
hanging out right now in the Outer Banks as well.

Hi,
I live in this area, and was off work this afternoon so went out and was
able to observe this bird, along with many others.
Others have maybe already reported on this by observing the photos they've
taken or observing through binocs, but this poor bird seems distressed,
maybe just the cold
ago, have never caught sight of them migrating through before!
Me and a gentleman named Val who I met there enjoyed observing them for
some time..
Also saw Yellow-rumped, Palm, Nashville, Tennessee, Black-throated Green,
Black-and-white, Magnolia there were likely others..

They are great, I love their melancholy song.

first ever observation of a Blue-Headed Vireo in our yard yesterday! They

The bird looks otherwise healthy and alert, so it appears to be faring ok.

We have been down a few more times to Crosby Farm park. The water levels
have risen there again, they have reclosed the gates leading into the
park. The path that skirts the 'upper lake' is flooded and doesnt allow
getting to the part of the path right along the upper lake.

My wife and i drove out from St. Paul this afternoon to check this area out
as well. Tried to get some photos but the birds were pretty far away.
We saw Mallard, Goldeneye, Coot, Redhead, Bufflehead, Shoveler, Scaup. Im
not too adept at telling Greater and Lesser Scaup apart from each other.
