I just noted Allison's post and I too am interested in snowy owls in the metro
area. Allison requested responses direct to her email but I'd think this
request would be of broad enough interest that response to the group would make
sense but I'll let the responder decide; if you prefer the
frank-if you're referring to the 3 on the snowy owl they're all showing up in
my email box from mounet so things seem to be working as a reader of the list.

hi to the group-have never ventured to Lake Phalen before but will be near it
tomorrow and wondered if it has enough bird activity right now to warrant a
visit with my camera and tele lens?? anybody been there lately? if so what
species did you run into? are they within photo shooting distance?
I'm mainly a lurker, picking up ideas as to where to go to see interesting
birds to photograph gleaned from postings. I'm not sure that I'd be in favor of
last names being required in this age of hackers etc.--I really don't want my
full name associated with my email address to be available to
hi alyssa-I'm interested in the barred owl ... did you actually see it? if
so, about what time and where was it in the nature center?
I have the same questions regarding the northern shrike.
thanks.

Again, many thanks to all of you who gave me links to resources (which I
will surely save) and to all of you who offered your time and expertise in

hi to the group--I'm an amateur photographer who started shooting birds a

picked up a little knowledge about birds along the way. I put up a couple

thanks for the tip betsy-I just checked my info button on my remote and to

hi michelle-thanks for your postings about CA-I haven't been there but
intend to go this spring. generally speaking in terms of sightings you've
had over the years, are the birds you see there within good distance for
photo work or are they quite far off ? I do have a long lens but of course
let me add the clincher!!! last night while photographing the planetary
conjunction I was bothered enough by a mosquito that I had to go in the
house and put a hat on!!! if they're here ... we got spring!!!

swans had taken up residency at sucker lake. it's such a nice day today I was
thinking of driving over there and trying to grab some photos. does anyone
know if they are still there? if so, is it easy to spot them ...

I'm heading to Aitkin County for

I agree with tom and peter-I've practiced in Minn for 40 years and also
don't practice in criminal law but the antics of this guy and his forcing a
stop with his auto seem to rise to the level of some kind of criminal
conduct AND this is exactly the kind of guy who slips thru the cracks and
tom has nailed the law ... my prior post was written before I read tom's
