A first spring male Summer Tanager was found this morning by a number of
birders. It was singing frequently and seen on the east side of Veterans
Park at the following coordinates (44.8866075, -93.2614692) where the
walking path splits into two paths. Bird was seen in low canopy to ground
level.
I spent 45 minutes this evening trying to get a documenting shot of a Summer
Tanager hawking insects in my yard on the Woodtick Trail, Chippewa Nat'l
Forest, Cass County. The MOU data base says there are three other records for
Cass County, but when I posted the photo, MOU said it is the first

On a 4th attempt to see, not just hear, the Summer Tanager at
Murphy-Hanrehan, this bird was finally cooperative, perched and singing in
plain sight on the south side of the trail, just west of marker 13 at 10:15
this morning. It was easy to see the overall red plumage, and smooth crown.

Byllesby Regional Park this morning. At the following coordinates:

May 13th. The front half of the bird was red, the rear half yellow.

On Tuesday, an adult male SUMMER TANAGER showed up at my suet feeder in western

Late this afternoon today I saw the Summer Tanager that was previously
reported. It was perched in a tree along the dirt trail, located above the
bridge and stream. The bird’s multi-colors were stunning! As I walked toward
the brook trail entrance, it perched briefly again, and flew.

Just found a first year male Summer Tanager at Kaplan Woods Parkway in
Owatonna. The bird was in a thicket on the right of the small parking
lot by the paved hike/bike trail by light pole 8. It would not come

This morning, I followed a Summer Tanager as it flew low through open woods at
Afton State Park, Washington County. It flew about 30 yards at a time before

An American woodcock near the busy entry door to Southwest School in
Albert Lea.
At home, vesper sparrows sing as Lincoln's sparrows scratch where the
snow has been cleared. A flock of cedar waxwings blew in to polish off the
crabapples.
While birding in Forest Hills Cemetery in Owatonna yesterday
afternoon, my wife Leanne found an adult male Summer Tanager. She

The summer tanager is still at Carpenter's Nature Center. At noon today it
was in the red twigged dogwoods in front of the visitors center and then
eating at the gutter at the front east end of the interpretive center.

Hi everyone,
I also saw the Summer Tanager at Carpenter Nature Center today. I arrived at
around 12:40 pm but didn't locate it until 1:55 pm. I flushed the bird from
near the front of the orchard store along the fenceline. There are some orange
berries here where the bird flushed from and it

It was seen near the apple shack about 10:30 and later near the administration
bldg. The admin bldg area seems to be a good place to find it when the sun is
shining - The bird was seen on the roof and gutters hawking insects

Thanks to the alert and informed staff at Carpenter Nature Center, I
enjoyed a new life bird this afternoon. The female Summer Tanager was
stunning in her variegated colors, and was rather cooperative, once
located. She flew between the old Interpretive Center and the
Administration Building
For the third day in a row, a Summer Tanager was seen in the same area of
our side yard. It hangs out on a tree and a wire near our neighbor's upper
porch. It must still be finding yellow jackets or other insects despite the

Went to Fishtrap Lake (north of Cushing) to relocate Pacific Loon and had no
success. Saw some crabapples at 2439 cty rd 3 on the North end of lake and
found a Townsend Solitaire and a Summer Tanager (may be the bird Dennis
