Regarding the questions about the Osprey in Roseville. The goose that laid eggs
in that nest has vacated the nesting pole. The Ospreys have laid their eggs on
another nest on some ballfield lights. They will probably not return to the
nest on County Road C2 this year, unless their other nest

Nate I co-led yesterday's Sherburne Refuge trip (with optional afternoon
Mille Lacs County portion). Nearly 30 birders came, enjoying 127 species on
Mahnomen Trail, Blue Hill Trail, Prairie Wildlife Auto Tour (all in the
refuge), west side of Mille Lacs Lake and Kathio State Park. Highlights
FOY female Ruby-throated Hummingbird was at a feeder this morning as
we had breakfast.

For the first time in the 30+ years we have lived up here, we had a *Red-headed
Woodpecker* come into our feeders this morning. Along with him were 2
Downys, a Hairy, 2 Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, a Pileated and 2 Red-bellied
Woodpeckers.
Warblers have just started arriving here, but they are few
I am going to be in Newcastle Upon Tyne in England on the Scotland border along
the North Sea next week and I was wondering if anyone any experience birding
there. I will be there over Memorial Day weekend.

This morning at 7:00, along Minnehaha Creek east of Lake Hiawatha, a red-headed
woodpecker flew toward me, passed right in front of me, and flew off into the
neighborhood near E 46th St 32nd Ave S.
The red head and solid black and white wings were clearly visible. It did not
call.

On this morning's Urban Bird Fest walk at Battle Creek Park in St. Paul, we
heard two Mourning Warblers singing and two cuckoos. One of the cuckoos
sounded like a Yellow-billed, the other sounded like a Black-billed. I think
cuckoos are not always honest. The other notable warbler was a Cape
Friday-- Scarlet tanager male and female at Carlos Avery 14th of May
Saturday-2 Black-crowned night herons at Westwood Nature Center 15th

We stopped for a walk at Wild River State Park late afternoon today. Bird
highlights included:
2 male Golden Winged Warblers , 1 Blue Winged Warbler, a Scarlet Tanager,
Rose-Breasted Grosbeak, Baltimore Oriole, Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher, Wood Thrush
and 25 other species.

My wife, Jan , and I were having brunch this morning at Running Aces
harness racing track near Forest Lake. The track is a big dirt and gravel oval
which surrounds a grass and marsh area. We have observed egrets, herons and
other waterfowl there while dining on several occasions. This
Birding at Lake Rebecca PR this morning, I was very surprised to find a Hooded
warbler. The bird was not singing, but drew my attention with loud bright chip
notes. I watched it for about 10 min, then it disappeared into the understory.

In observation of our state holiday, the Opener, I decided to go
out and do a little pshishing this weekend. And so, this evening I
took a walk along one of the neighbors wooded hunting trails behind
our farm.
The psishing was great! I had excellent looks at a number of FOY
warblers:
