you can backup and then remove the boot wims from the console and distribution points as they won't be used in R2, new ones will be added when you move to SP1 and then R2 (SP1/R2 use different versions of Windows ADK versus WAIK in RTM), you'll have to do your customizations (wallpaper, f8 command support and any drivers that are required) once R2 installation is complete, for more info see - http://www.niallbrady.com/2012/06/20/how-can-i-upgrade-system-center-2012-configuration-manager/ - http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/8451-how-can-i-install-system-center-2012-r2-configuration-manager/ On Wed, Mar 26, 2014 at 9:25 AM, Hun boy hun@outlook.com wrote: any Idea's on this? do I need to delete Boot Images ??? any high level plan would be great help to me... -- From: hun@outlook.com To: mssms@lists.myitforum.com Subject: [mssms] We are Mig rating SCC m 2012 to SP1 then t o R2... the boot wims are based on different operating systems so you might not need to import any drivers into the new boot wims for R2, I would advise that you make backup whatever winpe drivers you have today, and your boot wims, and then test the boot wims provided in R2 before adding any drivers, only add drivers you need, not drivers you think you need. [mssms] Software Updates and reports
Has anyone noticed that the SCCM 2012 console status for a software updates shows different numbers for required than the SSRS reports?? See this example below: SCCM 2012 console: [cid:image001.png@01CF48E4.422F6760] SSRS reports: [cid:image002.png@01CF48E4.422F6760] I am confused as to why this is reporting this way. Making it confusing for everyone as to what needs updated and what does not. I have ran the summarization several times and that does not help. Any input on this craziness would be great!! RE: [mssms] machine fails to join domain
Funny, this came up internally last week as well when one of our testers hit the exact same issue. We confirmed it's by design with unattended domain join, you can't specify a container, just an OU. If you want it to join the computers container, don't specify anything. We did file a UI bug so that we can better filter the list that's provided so that it's only OUs. In our previous SCCM 2007 environment we always had to create the computer object in the domain before imaging. That was the only way we could make t join during OS deployment process. Is this mandatory? I have a service account setup to join PCs to the domain. I have validated the password and permissions. Am I missing something here? [mssms] MDT 2013 Configuration and CM12 SP1
Ha, I know some will get a kick out of this one here with the recent post on whether to use MDT for image engineering or ConfigMgr. :) Here's my question. If you are running CM12 SP1 with MDT 2012 U1 Integrated. Can you run an MDT 2013 Standalone member server to build your image? If I import a captured Win7 image from my MDT 2013 server in a CM12 SP1 environment will it cause issues with deployment? Can't find anything on technet about this. Thank you, Brian

Sure, a WIM is a WIM - you can build in MDT, deploy in ConfigMgr; you can build in ConfigMgr and deploy using MDT (as long as the presence of the ConfigMgr client doesn't bother you); you can capture using WDS and deploy with MDT or ConfigMgr. [mssms] Excluding Windows Updates
I have an OSD task sequence in COnfigMgr 2012 that uses the ztiWindowsUpdate.wsf script from MDT 2012 SP1 (the customer does not use software updates in ConfigMgr). I am attempting to exclude the Windows Updates that require multiple reboots. So far, I have added the WUMU_ExcludeKB001= lines to the customsettings.ini but the updates still get marked for INSTALL and not SKIP. I also tried adding the WUMU_ExcludeKB001 as a task sequence variable per this recommendation: http://ccmexec.com/2013/09/tips-when-building-images-with-configmgr-2012-part-2/ That did not work either. How do I get these updates excluded? It seems like the settings are not being read from customsettings.ini. . . Has anyone seen this before? Thanks, Jeff

We don’t currently use ConfigMgr for Critical/Security patches however we are using it for Endpoint protection. The reason I ask is because I get errors in the logs with software update scans failing because the clients are pointing via GPO to a different WSUS to do the updating. Yep. We have WinPE 3.5, 4, and 5 in our 2012 SP1 environment to deal with various issues (ESXi 4.x, Win8.1). For us, WinPE 5 needed much less drivers added than the other two. From: any...@gmail.com To: mssms@lists.myitforum.com you can backup and then remove the boot wims from the console and distribution points as they won't be used in R2, new ones will be added when you move to SP1 and then R2 (SP1/R2 use different versions of Windows ADK versus WAIK in RTM), you'll have to do your customizations (wallpaper, f8 command support and any drivers that are required) once R2 installation is complete, for more info see - http://www.niallbrady.com/2012/06/20/how-can-i-upgrade-system-center-2012-configuration-manager/ - http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/8451-how-can-i-install-system-center-2012-r2-configuration-manager/ On Wed, Mar 26, 2014 at 9:25 AM, Hun boy hun@outlook.com wrote: any Idea's on this? do I need to delete Boot Images ??? any high level plan would be great help to me... -- From: hun@outlook.com To: mssms@lists.myitforum.com Subject: [mssms] We are Mig rating SCC m 2012 to SP1 then t o R2... We are in RTM edition, we have different boot images got created by our Imaging guys, These boot Images also have network/mass storage drivers are added along with some WINPE Back Group screen wallpaper, when cross checked the boot image properties. And finally these the Boot Images are distributed to all the required distribution points. Help me to understand what are the action steps to be taken now? In the process of RTM to SP1 and R2

RE: [mssms] Auto Rule Engine Fail
Thanks for the response. I am sitting behind a proxy and the WSUS Server pulls down the updates fine. I changed the option on the software update point for the rule engine to go direct and it works fine now. I guess I just want to know now what changed for it to just stop failing and why is the way Engine rule downloads are different to WSUS?
