I get an empty file. I've tried searching the mailing list, googling, various

Could it be an improper capture card, video source or input connection setup?

Update, I was wrong, watching recordings is also affected. Everything
looks great when I kill mythfrontend and watch it directly from the
command line still. Thanks.

I know I can manually update my video database throught the myth gui,

This rig did work before I updated so I think that the hardware is OK. I'vetried using irrecord and this does seem to work after a fashion but I cannot
get all of the buttons to work this way.
What OS are you running? I ran into a few bumps when moving to a newer kernel (udev) on gentoo.

Out of curiosity, how did you solve your udevproblems?
I think so. The lircd.conf file that worked really well with devfs
didn't seem to sync as well with udev (in addition to the move from
/dev/lirc0 to /dev/lirc/0). I manually played with a few of the
options and seem to have things working

Both have hardware encoding, the 350 has the addition of mpeg decoding

if I buy one of these cards, do I also need a video card?
If you get the 250, yes, you'll need a way to get the picture to a tv

Paul(or anyone),
Did you ever find whether the on-board video/TV-out of your MS-6215

I have the i865G chipset on my myth box with the Chrontel chip

I suppose you could try that for a bit and remove mysql, qt, mythtv and
then remerge mythtv which should catch them all. You might want to add
qt to the use variable as well to be on the safe side.
