That is an impressive collection, where do you find these tubes? I
scour surplus stores, websites, etc., and don't seem to have nearly
the luck you do.
As far as the new site goes - looks good! (Do you use Nuke for that?)

Hi Kevin,
Please note that if you decide to build from Stanislav Pechal's schematic,
you must replace his MC34063 v1 powersupply with at least Mike's MC34063
mk1.5 supply (or something else). The powersupply design that Stanislav
draws is nothing but a misery as I can personally attest.

Many thanks for the replies. Yes, the schematic from Stanislav Pechal
is the one I seemed to remember, I just could not put ‘my finger on
it’. I knew it looked familiar.
I have made pcb’s in the past, photo resist board and used Easy PC in
the days of DOS and when it was cheaper. I am now looking a

Maybe I'm looking at it backwards, but I always thought that going off-grid
was necessitated by moving to someplace that isn't in the middle of
civilization.. That is to say, the reward is that you don't have to live in
the middle of Seattle or one of its suburbs... You could live deep in the

It was cost prohibitive though. :(

Mostly off grid power projects for me, since I moved off the grid 18 months

No Nixie-ish projects here. All though I have restored a T&N master clock
and ond got it to run - and fixed a huge strange mechanical English bell
timer clock thingy I purcased on ebay..
My next nixie project is hopefully that thing from you Nick ;-)
